My mother was chatting with a guy and decided to be matchmaker. The name he is using now is Sgt. Chaplin Edwards. Did some research found a Facebook profile with a pic. This is the same pic on myspace for Sgt. Ralph Edwards, Sgt. Michael Edwards and Sgt. David Edwards. The Yahoo Messenger ID he is using now is sgt.edwards46. Wanted money for a leave form in the amount of $1560. Of course, did not send the money. Sounds like he uses many different names.

100% you are in communication with a scammer. He has already planted the seed of a fake leave request. He will have you contact his fake supervisor and apply for leave for him. In reality the supervisor is the scammer himself or his accomplice. He is about to ask for the money. He or his buddy are going to tell you that you must pay for his leave via Western Union or Money Gram.

Everything he says is a lie. If you confront him. He will continue to lie.

Military personnel do not pay for their leave. It is given to them on a yearly basis. Spouses, children nor relatives do not contact their supervisors or request anything. The soldier must do this themselves. That being said. The military will never communicate with an internet girlfriend/wife or friend.

When a soldier is deployed the military provides everything they need. Phones and internet to communicate with family. Soldiers do not have the time to be chatting and looking for love on Dating sites.

If the soldier has a child. The military will make sure that the child is with family. The military will also provided medical care and services to dependent children.

Staff Sgt. Michael D. Edward is a scam! Thanks goodness I didn't get scammed, questioned him from the start! Sent me pictures to my email wanted to IM chat but did not want to Skype, and I know the military allows them to Skype! He said he was in Afghanistan and had a 12 year old son in Ghana sent a picture of him as well. He wanted a life with someone and was willing to relocate, PLEASE do not fall for this inhuman sort!
He makes errors in the way he chats with his English. He is a disgrace to all humans and especially the Military! I wish I knew where I could report him. I haven't let him know I am on to him yet, going to talk to my local law enforcement to see if there is any recourse, probably not. He is probably overseas and is untouchable! PLEASE warn everyone you know. I believe he targets woman who are older and possibly overweight, who knows that's the category I fall in. I want to know other avenues to help stop him! Anyone have any ideas let me know....

The scammer is in Ghana. Law Enforcement will not be able to do anything. The scammer is not using his real name and his IP will probably come back to an internet cafe. Any pictures he sent you were stolen from the internet. He does not have a son in Ghana. He is pretending to have a son in Ghana. This will make it easier for him to have his victims send money and gift to him in Ghana.

Please stop any contact you have with him. Make him wonder why you disappeared.

Please post his email address, Chat ID (Yahoo/Gmail) and a couple of his initial emails to you. Just remove your personal information. This will help other women avoid him when they search the internet.

He is a disgrace to all humans and especially the Military!

Just to make sure it is clear--the person posing as Sgt. Edwards is not, and has never been, in the military. He is not American and most likely has never set foot in the US.

The real Sgt Edwards (who is not on dating sites at all--he is in a relationship) is aware of the use of his photos, but unfortunately, they were stolen years ago when many men and women in the military innocently posted photos on social networking sites, unaware that scammers were taking advantage of them. He has taken precautions to prevent any new photos he shares with family and friends from being stolen, but unfortunately there is no way to retrieve the ones the scammers stole in the past.

Yes, he is up to his usual scamming. As a result of this website, I found out about him and fortunately I NEVER sent him any money. He appears very charismatic, but if something appears to be too good to be true, it usually is.
Although we have never met, I did video chat with him on Yahoo; however, he did not appear on camera, as he said that due to his “secret and dangerous mission” cameras were not allowed at the camp (seemed logical to someone that is not familiar with military procedures). Like I said, we never met; we only texted, and chatted, daily. Yet, he pledged his undying love for me!!!!!!!! I found this suspicious and as a result of the daily chats, and this website, my suspicions proved to be true. While he never asked me for any money, the subject of money came up as a result of his birthday, November 10th. He said that he would like to celebrate his birthday with friends by sharing food, drinks and snacks, but he said that he didn’t have any money and the military would not allow them to access their bank accounts or credit cards. I was thinking that this shouldn’t cost that much, so I asked him how much it would cost, as I was thinking about sending the money so that he could celebrate his birthday; after all, he was fighting for our country right!!!!!! When he said $500, alarms went off in my mind! Consequently I began searching the web about military procedures and soldiers access to money. By the grace of God, I discovered Scamwarners.com as well as more than I wanted to know about “ Sgt. Mike Edwards ” and his scams.
While he says that home is Phoenix, Arizona, he has a cell phone with a Cincinnati, Ohio, area code. Of course his rational for that was that he is using a free text service and can use whatever area code/zip code he chooses. I never saw any of the pictures he sent me online and will get them posted if possible (not to sure I know how to do it).
I feel for the real Sgt. Mike Edwards and his family. I hope this will help other females that may encounter this individual!
