Job Description


The role of an air cabin crew member is to provide excellent customer service to passengers while ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the flight. They are trained to deal with security and emergency situations which may arise and can administer first aid to passengers.


Air Cabin crew/Flight Attendant ensures that all emergency equipment is in working order prior to take off and that there are enough supplies for passengers. They also help passengers to board the plane and give a demonstration of safety procedures and equipment.

Air cabin crew strives to make the flying experience a pleasant one for the passengers and will serve refreshments and meals and sell gifts and duty-free items. Cabin crew may work on short or long-haul flights.

Qualification |Who is Qualified to Apply?


∙ Must be a Rwandan citizen by birth or registration


∙ Must be graduate in the level of certificate, diploma, advanced diploma/high diploma, and or degree in economics, mass communication, business management, hotel management, tourism, marketing, journalism, public relation, sociology, education.


∙ High school graduate with experience in marketing, customer service and other community related works can apply.


∙ Age limit: minimum age required is 18, and maximum age limit is 35 years


∙ Energetic and good standard of health and fitness


∙ Youth below 30 years of age are emphasized to apply


∙ Minimum height requirement is 5’0 and usually that height is to be proportion to weight.


∙ Good hearing and Eyesight, although glasses and contact lenses are allowed on board;


∙ Valid passport permitting unrestricted travel in East Africa. (if you don’t have a passport, Fast Service Group will support successful candidate)


Candidates also need to show evidence of the following:

Communication skills;


Confidence in dealing with a range of people;


The ability to work as a team member (different teams may be worked with every day) and be supportive of colleagues;


Competence in handling difficult situations and the ability to remain calm under pressure and in emergency situations;


The ability to be tactful and diplomatic but also assertive when necessary;

Flexibility in working unsocial hours on any day of the year;


The ability to work quickly and efficiently, often to tight time constraints;


Numeracy skills for handling cash, including foreign currency;


The ability to work in a confined space.


Candidates who are fluent in English, Swahili and French shall have an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities | What will be your regular responsibilities as a cabin crew and or air hostess


Typical work activities


Tasks may vary slightly depending on whether it is a short or long-haul flight and the size of the team you are working in. However, they typically include:


Attending a pre-flight briefing, during which air cabin crew are assigned their working positions for the upcoming flight. Crew are also informed of flight details, the schedule and if there are passengers with any special requirements, such as diabetic passengers, passengers in wheelchairs or the number of infants on board;


Carrying out pre-flight duties, including checking the safety equipment, ensuring the aircraft is clean and tidy, ensuring that information in the seat pockets is up to date and that all meals and stock are on board;


Welcoming passengers on board and directing them to their seats;


Informing passengers of the aircraft safety procedures and ensuring that all hand luggage is securely stored away;


Checking all passenger seat belts and galleys are secure prior to take-off;


making announcements on behalf of the pilot and answering passenger questions during the flight;


Serving meals and refreshments to passengers;

∙ Selling duty-free goods and advising passengers of any allowance restrictions in force at their destination;

Reassuring passengers and ensuring that they follow safety procedures correctly in emergency situations;
Giving first aid to passengers where necessary;
Ensuring passengers disembark safely at the end of a flight and checking that there is no luggage left in the overhead lockers;
Completing paperwork, including writing a flight report.

What is the recruitment process like?/ How is Recruitment Process Carried Out?

After receiving candidates cv, application letter, pictures and other testimonies, 70 candidates are short-listed and undergo an initial screening for authentication before being selected. Finally, only 25 out of 60 shall officially receive Training and Job Trainee Offer Letter to attend training session which will be conducted in Dar es Salaam -Tanzania and Kigali-Rwanda. Candidates who fail to make it through the initial screening process and who will not make it through out online aptitude test may reapply after six months.

Fast Service Group through its subsidiary aviation company called Fast Jet shall provide accommodation, meal and allowances for trainee who will be selected.

Training

The majority of our training courses are conducted at our Fast Jet Training Halls in Dar and South Africa. Practical Training shall be conducted at Dar es salaam Airport and Kigali-Rwanda and will last for 2 months in total.
