Cyko_01, you are correct that servers have a lot of domains they host. To jump to the conclusion that all domains hosted on those servers are scams is a very broad sweep of the broom. It is similar to saying that because some scams come from Nigeria, ALL Africans are scammers. I know that is not true because I know people from African nations who are not scammers.

Many of those domains are indeed free email domains and SOME are used by scammers. You would have to say that any email received from a Yahoo.com address is also a scam. That is why we need specifics to determine if an email is from a scammer.

I got an email from a man named Brian Walmer (email is [email protected]). His email has many exact quotes from many posts on this thread. I cannot copy and paste it to his web address, but he is advertising as an owner for a place in London, Ontario Canada - a house for $800 including all utilities and cable and internet. This rental also came fully furnished and he would store the furniture at no extra cost if we chose that option. This one also came with a juice maker too! I will post again when he responds to let you guys know where he is apparently living or why i wont be able to view the rental space

Currently have him hooked, lined, and sinkered. Apparently Brian got tired of London and moved to Edmonton, and my very naive girlfriend almost fell into the scam. Sending her incredibly similar emails with detailed instructions claiming an Adriatic Air Cargo Agent would deliver the keys to my door for a two day "viewing process"

The scammer will give you plenty of details--but none of them are real. He is not sharing his real information with you. He doesn't live in Canada. He has no connection to the property in question. The photos were simply stolen from online, very possibly from an outdated and now removed property listing.

You can play the victim for an extended period, and he still isn't going to give you his real information. You might get a valid bank account out of him for bank transfer, but chances are that will be a mule, and he/she likely doesn't know the scammer's real information either. The same goes for Western Union, except you may not even be given a real name.

Sadly, even if you did get a real name and address (which won't happen), the cost of international investigations is large, and the government will not pursue it without a very large sum of money and a high likelihood of success.

Assuming your girlfriend contacted him using your real information, it is best to cut off contact with the scammer. While he isn't going to fly out and attack you, some angry scammers will retaliate with petty tactics that will still cause you a big headache.

I hate to say it. You will not find the scammer. You are chasing dead ends. Scammers never use any real information.

Everything the scammer said is a lie. The names are not of the scammer. The photo's used are stolen off the internet. The email addresses used are created with free email providers. If you were given a website it was built with fictitious information.

Now don't tell me there's nothing we can do to catch him.

Actually yes, How does Law Enforcement catch a ghost/no identifying information. Keep in mind our Law Enforcement stops at our boarders. Countries where these scam are carried out the police will turn their eyes else where for a bribe. Besides most of these scammers operate in internet cafes where all share the same IP.

A scammer would never give you information to lead to an arrest of him. Yes, his mule. But not him.
