Thanks for your reply ... I am Ruth Basit ,24 Years Old (Female) and

I received the same email in TX. What is it that they are trying to do?

Welcome to ScamWarners avilesmary. The scam is they send you a check which is a forgery. It looks like a real check and may fool the local bank, but eventually, the banking system will turn it up as drawn on an account which has been compromised or made up.

They will say that something has happened and they cannot follow through with the rental and will will you send most of the money back to them. As a courtesy, you get to keep some of the money. The problem is, once you deposit the check in any manner, you have committed a crime.

You then will be held accountable for all of the money the bank has lost. Often the police get involved and you could be convicted of bank fraud. It is best to stay away from scammers like this. The best thing to do is stop all communication with them. Ignore them and they will go away.
