The apartment located in 4160 Sardis Street, Burnaby, BC V5H 1K2 is still available. As you can see from the pictures is in excellent condition, very clean and very well kept. Is the first time I'm renting this apartment and I'm trying to find a responsible tenant to take good care of the place. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. You can use my furniture if you want and everything from the apartment otherwise you can deposit it in the storage unit that is near the building not far away. Of course I will cover the costs for movers. The apartment rent is 880CAD/month with everything included-all the utilites (heat, hydro, water, electricy, 2 parking spots, laundry in-suite, washer and dryer also included, cable and internet- full package paid for 1 year in advance). You also have full access to all the building amenities (sauna, pool, fitness room, gym, party room, restaurants, visitor parking). Everything in the apartment is new or renovated so there is no need for repairs but just in case I will cover the costs.


Note that the apartment is a private property, already paid in full and NO mortgage on it. The surrounding area is great. Schools and groceries near-by. I'm sure you will have everything that you need there because is one of the most important areas in the city. Pets and children are allowed in the building. Now about me: I'm a structural engineer and I work for MWH Global Engineering, I'm 45 years old, married with 2 children. I worked hard to have a good career and I really respect hard earned money. The company I work for they have projects all around the world so most of my time I'm traveling. The apartment will be available for the next 6 years for sure. I want to rent the place on my own because it's a private property therefore I need to send you the keys and the papers. I'm sure we can find a way for both of us to be satisfied.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram to an escrow company with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!
The emails claiming to be from the company are fake.

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

I'm almost a victim of the same scam you just posted. In fact I just replied to the latest email sent to me regarding the process of payment and everything.
I gave my name, address, and my contact information. But that is all I gave. It took me the whole week to reply because I was skeptic. I thought it is too good to be true.
So I checked with Google and typed RentReporter Exchange Safe. The first thing that came into the screen was SCAMWARNERS site. There in the screen the same emails that I got from a guy who calls himself Todd Bendt who is residing in London, England. He said he is a structural engineer with family and will be away for 6 years. That is why he is renting the place.

My worries now if the information I gave him will be used maliciously and will get me into trouble.

Welcome skipper, could you please let us know the email address he used this time.
If you still have the emails from him, it would be appreciated if you post them here as it might help others who carry out an internet search, as you did.

I received the same to emails from a guy named Warren Sayers. When typing his name into google along with the company he claims to work for (searched 'MWH Global Engineering Warren Sayers') the very first link goes to www.ripoffreport.com and has a person saying the exact same thing. He also received the same emails I did albeit from the same address listed. This place is listed for sale on other sites, not for rent.

You only have to deposit to RentReporters company a deposit of 950USD so they can proceed with the shipping, and you can receive the rental package (the keys and the documents). I will pay for a 3-4days delivery time so you will receive the keys and the contract signed by me right away. I will explain you step by step how this process will work:

1 - To start the process all I need is your full shipping info (full name, address and your phone number).
2 - I will go to the RentReporters Safe Exchange office to deposit the keys and the contract on your name as the intended receiver.
3 - RentReporters Safe Exchange will check the package to see if everything is in order and also the legal papers that will come along with the keys and proof of ownership with their Real Estate Professional Department in London. They will also confirm with the building manager that I'm the legal owner of the apartment I'm renting to you.
