I met this charming soldier stationed in Afghanistan about a month ago. After sending a few emails back and forth we moved onto personal emails. We started sending emails everyday and each email was more charming than the one before. I told him early on that I was warned about some "soldier scamming" thing that is going around and I was worried about that. He got very angry and told me that he honestly didn't see how this could continue if I was so insecure and I was "comparing" him to others. I asked him for his .mil address and his unit number and his duty station. None of which he provided me. I calmed him down and we began to email again. He told him his orders would be out very soon to come home to San Antonio where he would retire and be in reserves. Last weekend he told me he was getting out on Oct 21st and would send me his flight info.

OK, so looks innocent enough. I noticed however, it was "FWD" from his .yahoo account. but I blew it off, still making plans to meet him at the airport on the 21st. He told me he had fallen in love after being alone for 9 years because his wife cheated on him and he found her in bed with another man. She died 3 years ago from cancer. His son is living with his uncle in London. I sent him pictures of myself and my kids. I feel so stupid. I was falling in love with him, but at the same time, I was skeptical. AS I said when we first met, I was warned about "soldier scams" where people will steal a soldiers identity, promise the woman things, reveal their love then within days of "coming home" ask for money to be sent somewhere.
