Hello, I received the same e mail, actually I´ve received 3 different e mail with au pair offers for UK. Two of them I´m sure are scams. The 3rd one, I´m investigating it, maybe you can help me out.
This is the letter.

Dear Au pair

Thanks for your mail, how are you? I hope you had a lovely weekend.

I am so happy with your response to my mail, your CV is impressive and
you are beautiful, I will like to tell you about my family and job
offer,

We live in a conducive place in London is a large city .I am married
but lost my wife last year, we have 2 children a boy and girl they are
very lively and enthusiastic and as such we want someone to be
energetic and hard working. I am a Contractor and am always busy with
work and my wife was a Nurse before she passed on, I would love to
find a special person to share our house with and help me raise my
kids in a good way someone who will love my kids like her own
.Although there is a sports center on site for gym and swimming .And
am home around 8pm due to the nature of my job .My kids are aged
between 2 and 4 years old, Terry and Sophia.

We Speak English we need an Au pair who will love to learn English or
know how to speak English, also teach us your language .The kids go to
school from 7.30am to 4pm The school is 10 to 15 minutes drive from
our house and they go by their school bus. My kids have activities
horse riding, tennis, play, football and the girl love painting,
skipping, swimming etc. I would like you to get them ready for school,
And after school either play with them , help them do his home work,
make them observe their siesta. I would also like you to prepare
dinner so that we can a taste of your native food, wash their dirty
clothes and have the kids ready for bed. I am looking for someone who
shows initiative, likes sport / outdoor activities, has patience with
children, makes them laugh and teach them good morals and behaviours.

I will be paying you 1200pounds per month and pocket fee of 100pounds
weekly and you will be working for 35 hours per week and your weekend
are free, you can visit your friends if you have any and be visited
also, I will enroll you into a language class which you will be
attending during the weekend also I will want you to stay from
1-18months if you can.

I will visit the immigration sector in-charge of Au pair placement
here in UK to know what is required of us to secure your placement
here in UK as an Au pair and also obtain a contract letter of
employment, actually I will love to start the procession of your
working document as soon as possible because my kids will soon be on
vacation and they will need a mother figure in the house to take good
care of them while I go to work.

I will get back to you as soon as I get the instructions from the Home Office.

Have a lovely day

Absolute scam.

The salary is too high and the English tells me the author is African, not British.

It is important to realize that UK actually has very restrictive policies regarding au pairs. You can ONLY be an au pair if you are:
-a resident of an EAA country or Switzerland (in which case you do NOT need a visa)
OR
-a resident of one of these countries, in which case you do need a visa:
Australia - 35,000 places
Canada - 5,500 places
Japan - 1,000 places
Monaco - 1,000 places
New Zealand - 10,000 places
Republic of Korea - 1,000 places (certificates of sponsorship)
Taiwan - 1,000 places (certificates of sponsorship)

If you are a citizen of one of the countries on the list above, you would apply for the visa yourself, in your country--and you would only be eligible if there were places left.

If you are a citizen of ANY other country, you cannot be an au pair in UK, and anyone who offers you a job is a scammer.
