Unfortunately they're unverified emails I just got off the phone with paypal and that email address isn't associated with their company. Also the address that you have as your shipping address is all over the internet as a scam scheme. Try to think about how devastating it could be for someone to lose that amount of money before you try this again... best of luck to you in your future (legitimate) endeavors.
"

it was this email that was supposedly from paypal verifying the payment that made the red flags go up. it doesn' t look like a business sent email and the links were expired.

Welcome to ScamWarners futileempire and thank you for posting this information up. As you have realized, this is a scammer and the story is bogus.

I will say that if you actually gave this scammer your email address which is connected to your PayPal account, I would change my password weekly and monitor the account regularly. Scammers like to get details of a real PayPal account to use in their scams. This is why I removed your personal information from this post.

Be safe on the internet!

Another email address that sends out scam (in reply to my CL ad): [email protected]
What is really unusual is that the scam "paypal" payment notification (it says payment is from [email protected] ) included a REAL address in Oregon.....I'm pretty sure though that whoever lives there doesn't have a clue what's going on, otherwise I would contact the local police station that is just 1.5 miles away from that address....
Anyone know how this would continue if I were to supply the scammer a tracking number?

Welcome to ScamWarners sqlpilot. It is best once you determine you are dealing with a scammer, it is best to just drop all contact with them. Nothing good will come from staying in contact with the scammer.

to me
Thanks for your reply, Iam seriously interested in your listed item ,I have been trying to buy this for a very long time and its been very stressful buying this.,.
I'm really lucky finding this at this time... i have no problem with your asking price,
so I will offer you $520 so as to close other bids as soon as possible, but i hope it's in a good condition... I am an on-shore worker as I'm wanting to purchase this product for my son who is studying out of state.
I have no problem with paying the money upfront into your paypal account through my paypal account since its a safe way to exchange funds....Once payment clears, shipment will be handled by me through my personal FedEx account,so you don't have to pay for shipping
I am using paypal cos The last time I made a cash transaction, my money was stolen from me by the sellers.
If you have an account with paypal just get back to me with your Name and verified paypal e-mail address, and i can forward to Paypal to make your payment ASAP but if you don't have one you can log to paypal at www.paypal.com and easily set up your own personal account since it's free.
I want your honesty in return to my faithfulness to you during this transaction...
Your immediate response is really appreciated.

Hi all, I just posted this and saw afterwards this other post. Gee I'm glad I didn't fall for the scam.
In my excitment I would have fall for it if I didn't receive a similar email. One thing to spot scam is that the english is not quite correct or poor. And then anything that has to do with money transfer under any form is a scam.
Thanks all and have a good day.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for this site. I advertised some bunkbeds with photos and was all excited as I got 2 (women's) SIMILAR emails as follows

from person 1
email #1: Is the furniture still available for sale?
Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device from MTN
from [email protected]

email #2: Hi,I am very keen. How i wish i could come and view what am buying
from you.but am currently out of town at the moment and i want it
picked up before i get back, though i will be back in couple of weeks.
Due to my inability to make a bank deposit, I would be paying via
PayPal which is safer for me. Kindly send me a paypal payment invoice
or create an account at www.paypal.com, if you don't have one. I will
make a concrete pick up arrangement with my transport agent who will
be coming over for pick up once you receive full payment into your
PayPal account. Have a nice day.
from (please note the slightly different email) thomas brenda <[email protected]>

I got another similar one like this for the same item. Here it goes:
email 1: Is the furniture still available for sale?
Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device from MTN

From person 2

Am buying this for my uncle in as a surprise gift and understand i
and you assure me it's in condition described. I will appreciate more
pictures if available and will be sending your money asap. My shipper
will be available to pick this up as soon as payment is made. Do you
have paypal account?because, I have a paypal account that I can easily
send money through because, its good for business payments. Get back
to me with your paypal email address and name in order for me to have
your money sent on time. Confirm sale to me and remove the add from
posting.....

Yeah right. I was wondering how they would get my money from Paypal. I found numerous sites denouncing similar scams

Darn, I gave them my cell #, home address and wife's cell #... I hope they are too stupid to do anything with those. My guess is they are not in the US (poor english language) so I won't see any thugs at my door :yikes:

to me
Hi,
I'm willing to pay your asking price for it.I will pay you with
Cashier Check as it's the only way i can pay you at the moment due to
the fact that i am away for a business emergency.I will make
arrangement for the pick-up after you have received payment. If you are
fully okay with my terms kindly reply with your full name, address and
a phone number where i can reach you.so payment can be sent.I dont
mind if you take down the Ad on craigslist and consider it sold to me
as i don't want to lose the sale to other potential buyers. The check
I'm sending will be in excess so it will covers the shipping,as soon
as the check clears your bank you will have to deduct the cost for
your item and give the difference to the mover for the shipping
service . I'm asking you to do this for me because of my tight
schedule at work and I need to finalize this ASAP. Best Regards.

Thanks.

am interested in your item, where you located?joy
5183088296
I would love to come pick up the item myself and pay cash but presently am out of state for business I am a member of United States Marine Corps (USMC) so I was posted away for some weeks that's why i said you would help me make inquires ship to my friend and i will offering you $220 and i will include $95 for shipping and handling to him USPS air mail....do you take paypal?joy

I ignored both but #2 sent a whole sign up with paypal blah blah so I responded with a "nice" msg informing them it was too early in the day for a scam and to please learn to spell because our marine corps do know how to.

Same thing from Steven Noels ([email protected] and [email protected])

First e-mail was from [email protected]
"Hello, is it still up for sale"

which came within 2 hours of posting on Craigslist.

I replied
"Yes, but only cash or Paypal will be accepted".
(incidentally, the reply e-mail address was [email protected]).

The reply from the scammer was from [email protected]

"Okay. Thanks for your reply,I love to buy your item real and I am a serious buyer to pay you via my paypal account, i won't be available for pick up, moreover,I am currently out of state and then I love to buy this item for my pastor's kid as a gift, so i will offer you $3150 then i will add $150 to cover shipping cost to him via Express Mail Service (EMS) I am offering you this cos to keep other buyers off,I want to let you know, PayPal is secure, trustworthy and reliable and then is fast payment, I want you to send me your paypal email account or if you don't have paypal account already, you can set up for account via http://www.paypal.com so you will send it to me,so i will make the payment instantly.I anticipate a favorable response from you. Kindly get back to me asap.... Regard."
