I just received this email for an item that I am selling. Same email address as above but a different name!!

Hi,
Im glad it's still for sale.I am willing to pay your asking price.I
will pay you with money order or Cashier Check as its the only way i
can pay you at the moment due to the fact that i am away for a family
emergency.I will make arrangement for the pick-up after payment have
been received by you. I dont mind adding an extra $20 just for you to
keep it in my favor. If you are okay with my terms please reply with
your full name and address where payment should be sent, and a phone
number where i can reach you.And i will appreciate if you can take the
posting off craigslist today and consider it sold to me.
Expecting to hear from you soon.

Welcome to ScamWarners nathanb_23 and thank you for the additional information. Scammers conserve their resources (they are lazy) and they use the same script for many different names. They also buy or share scripts among their scammer friends.

We can add [email protected] to the list of scam emails for this clown.

I posted on craigslist looking for people to join a season ticket group for an MLB team.

First was:
You still have it up for sale?

Then was: (from [email protected])
Hi,
Am glad it still available. I'm going on a vacation to London but I
will instruct my assistant to prepare and mail your payment which I'm
sure you will get in about 4 - 6 business days. I'll add $30 extra for
the delay. I'll pay by M O or cashier check so send me your info (i.e
full name, mailing address and your phone number) I will also make
arrangement for pick-up which will be after you must have received and
cashed the payment.
Awaiting your info.
Thanks

I'm tempted to mess with this dude but it's probably best to ignore him.

I posted an ad for a used refrigerator on Craigslist and received an email from this email address:

jay williams <[email protected]>

His message:
You still have it up for sale?

I was lucky to find this site by Googling the email addy of this scammer. I flagged the email though the link Craigslist attached. Thanks, ScamWarners!

Here is another one. I had a Craigslist ad for some furniture I am selling. I received a reply from Amanda Davis.
Her email is [email protected]

This was her email:

THANKS.
REGARDS

Like a dummy, I replied (now I know what these BS email responses look like). I replied to her email stating that all items were still available.

This was "her" response:

it,i will add $30 to it for keeping it for me, Please provide your
full Name,Address-Zip code ( Not a PO BOX ) and your Phone number for

for payment to get to you. As perpick-up, I will make arrange for the
pick-up after payment has been received by you.I hope it is in good
condition, kindly get back to me with your name, phone # and mailing
address where payment will be sent and i will let you know how i
intend to pick it up.I would have loved to come check it out but i am
presently away on a business trip,so you can send me pics of the item
so that i can know it is in good condition.

Note:
I would appreciate it if you take the posting off CRAIGSLIST today and
consider it sold to me.Asfor the pick-up,it would be handled after you
receive your payment.
Thanks.

Needless to say, I will not respond back.

Hello Rokoz,

You HAVE done everything correct. The scammers is just bluffing to try to force you to comply and send him money. He will NOT send the FBI or any other law enforcement agency. What would he say? "I forged a check and Rokoz won't run it through the banking system when it would be found to be a forgery." :laugh-s:

He does have your address. Scammers are not like muggers. They don't physically confront their victims. They want to sit behind a computer in Nigeria or Malaysia and collect money through Western Union.

If you want him to go away, tell him that you took the check to the bank and they declared it a forgery and they are now taking it to the FBI for fraud.

The best to do is just ignore him. Don't respond, but do keep a record. He will move on to another victim.

Thanks all for your posts. My suspicious was raised as soon as I got the second e-mail, all very quickly after I listed the ad with some strange questions including “still available?” and some questions that were already answerd in the ad and others that were generic and not relevant.

Here is the 3rd e-mail I got, a beginning of a potential PayPal scam…

“Thanks, your asking price is quite reasonable and affordable considering others I've seen lately, I'll take it like you stated on the ad, also will like to know if you have PayPal account where i can send the fund to, because am not available right now and i need this urgently , i would have love to come my self at least to see what am buying and to test drive, but i don't have the time. But i think i can trust you on this , i will start making an arrangement concerning the pickup at your place once i hear back from you so you have nothing to worry about am going to handle shipping my self. Kindly get back to me with your PayPal email address(PayPal ID) and the pickup address to estimate how much this will cost me for shipping, but if you don't have a PayPal account is what you can set up, all you need do is to log on to WWW.PAYPAL.COM is very easy and secured get an account attach it with your credit card or your bank account and let me know once you are done.... if you have troubles with the account don't hesitate to email me back with any questions. Looking forward to read from you..send me more pictures if you have..to be sure that I don't waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions. Please excuse typos and grammatical errors Thanks”

Beware everybody…!!
