Hello, so comforting to find this site, thank you in advance! I was on OKcupid a week or so ago someone claiming to be a 19-20 yr old girl, the profile has since been deleted or removed, I can’t find it. Long story short we moved to texting with our phone numbers, she texted some sexual things but no nudes exchanged. She then made a weird comment she was 17 but then when asked she corrected and said she was 19. I can’t be certain but I suspect this is the scam profile associated with it. Yesterday I get a call and a voicemail left from a detective from the St Paul Police Dept special victims unit about a complaint from a juvenile case and to call back etc. I didn’t call back or answer. The man then texted me the same thing. I called the St. Paul police and they didn’t have a detective by the name he gave me and they said it was fishy because the number he gave me wasn’t the police dept. etc..
I texted back asking for a badge number or credentials , he said “please don’t play texting games with me sir, i will come arrest you for solicitation of a juvenile”. He said in the text the lady’s family filed a complaint. I then asked again for badge number , I did a search of the phone number he called me from and it’s a pinger number voip. I told him I’m reporting him to the police , and it’s a federal crime to impersonate a police officer and I have his voice on my voicemail as evidence

This genius “detective” then responded “fu,$k you “. And then said he”ll report my conversation to the police.. so obviously this is a scam but here is this scumbags number in case anyone else experiences this. 651-689-4476

I’ve since blocked him and i plan on reporting to ic3. Any other suggestions?

I’ll also add the girl’s number who went by the name of Honey, which by the way is also a same area code number and a pinger VOIP number 651-724-9650

I know that if I had answered the call or went down the route of having this extortionist continue with his discussion he was about to demand $

Definitely file an IC3 report and you may want to change your phone number and deactivate any social media accounts that they have knowledge of .

Thanks for posting to Scamwarners.

It is so comforting to have found this thread. I have a similar story:
I was on POF messaging a girl named Cameron whose age was 20 on POF. She asked to move the conversation to text messages, which I did do. Her number was (803)816-6340. She asked for a picture of me, so I send a nice picture of me, fully clothed, on a boat. She, without any prompting from me, sends 3 pictures, one of them was nude and the second was clothed but sexually suggestive. The next day I wake up to 2 missed phone calls from a Lieutenant Lawson, (414)842-8217, who said that he is working with a family who found their 17 year old daughter sending nudes to my number. The officer had a deep southern accent. He said the family is not financially well off, and that the mother was livid and wanted the police to lock me up for life. The officer stated the father(Kyle, (414)295-8330) calmed her down and wanted to speak with me. I told the officer that the girl was 20 and I never asked for nudes. He said that it is my responsibility to check for proper ID and since I texted the girl after she sent nudes, that counts. He advised me to speak with the father and agree upon a number for me to pay them monthly for rehab for the daughter. I agreed to speak to the father. At this point, the phone call ended, and I started searching for information on the web, and I found this website. I have ignored all texts from the father, who has since told me he will now escalate things with Lieutenant Lawson.

The profile is lilcameron974, which I reported but is still active.
I have filed an IC3 report as well.
I would appreciate if some of y'all could confirm that this sounds like a scam, because I'm still pretty rattled by it

Same scam . It has all the essential elements of the previous scams. Thank you for posting to Scamwarners . Your post will help warn other potential victims of this Blackmail / Sextortion Scam .

Ignore their empty threats . All 3 of those numbers are Google Voice or Skype non fixed VoIP numbers . Not cell phone or landline numbers . Do follow through with your IC3 report.

Scam letter I received and at least 82 others have reported on the bitcoin abuse database as of this writing.

Greetings!

I have to share bad news with you.
Approximately few months ago I have gained access to your devices, which you use for
internet browsing.
After that, I have started tracking your internet activities.

Here is the sequence of events:
Some time ago I have purchased access to email accounts from hackers (nowadays, it is
quite simple to purchase such thing online).
Obviously, I have easily managed to log in to your email account (xxx.xxx).

One week later, I have already installed Trojan virus to Operating Systems of all the
devices that you use to access your email.
In fact, it was not really hard at all (since you were following the links from your
inbox emails).
All ingenious is simple. =)

This software provides me with access to all the controllers of your devices (e.g., your
microphone, video camera and keyboard).
I have downloaded all your information, data, photos, web browsing history to my servers.
I have access to all your messengers, social networks, emails, chat history and contacts
list.
My virus continuously refreshes the signatures (it is driver-based), and hence remains
invisible for antivirus software.

Likewise, I guess by now you understand why I have stayed undetected until this letter...

While gathering information about you, I have discovered that you are a big fan of adult
websites.
You really love visiting porn websites and watching exciting videos, while enduring an
enormous amount of pleasure.
Well, I have managed to record a number of your dirty scenes and montaged a few videos,
which show the way you masturbate and reach orgasms.

If you have doubts, I can make a few clicks of my mouse and all your videos will be
shared to your friends, colleagues and relatives.
I have also no issue at all to make them available for public access.
I guess, you really don't want that to happen, considering the specificity of the videos
you like to watch, (you perfectly know what I mean) it will cause a true catastrophe for
you.

Let's settle it this way:
You transfer $1650 USD to me (in bitcoin equivalent according to the exchange rate at the
moment of funds transfer), and once the transfer is received, I will delete all this
dirty stuff right away.
After that we will forget about each other. I also promise to deactivate and delete all
the harmful software from your devices. Trust me, I keep my word.

This is a fair deal and the price is quite low, considering that I have been checking out
your profile and traffic for some time by now.
In case, if you don't know how to purchase and transfer the bitcoins - you can use any
modern search engine.

Here is my bitcoin wallet: 12kieSEdCV4ikxdXXXC23ZsDcNmmKrRmwA

You have less than 48 hours from the moment you opened this email (precisely 2 days).

Things you need to avoid from doing:
*Do not reply me (I have created this email inside your inbox and generated the return
address).
*Do not try to contact police and other security services. In addition, forget about
telling this to you friends. If I discover that (as you can see, it is really not so
hard, considering that I control all your systems) - your video will be shared to public
right away.
*Don't try to find me - it is absolutely pointless. All the cryptocurrency transactions
are anonymous.
*Don't try to reinstall the OS on your devices or throw them away. It is pointless as
well, since all the videos have already been saved at remote servers.

Things you don't need to worry about:
*That I won't be able to receive your funds transfer.
- Don't worry, I will see it right away, once you complete the transfer, since I
continuously track all your activities (my trojan virus has got a remote-control feature,
something like TeamViewer).
*That I will share your videos anyway after you complete the funds transfer.
- Trust me, I have no point to continue creating troubles in your life. If I really
wanted that, I would do it long time ago!

Everything will be done in a fair manner!

One more thing... Don't get caught in similar kind of situations anymore in future!
My advice - keep changing all your passwords on a frequent basis

I once fell victim to a sextortion scheme, and now that pathetic weasel is periodically coming back emailing me, unironically typing in all caps, desperately acting all angry and salty that I ignored his emails with his pathetic attempts of intimidation, threatening to "send my videos to my friends and family on Facebook", ending with yet another transparent display of desperation as sad as "dont (sic) fucking make me mad here".

At this point he’s little more than a minor nuisance to me,
