I just got home from filing a report with the police, I was very nervous at first. But the officer handling my case is also sure that it was a scam and the advice he gave me is if they contact me again send them a picture of my case number and tell them to talk to the officer handling my case. I feel very relieved now

Hello, so I was on CL looking for some company (someone to chill with and take it from there) i saw a post of a guy who looked to be around my age (23) and was in my area and we proceeded to engage in a conversation. I asked if he wanted to meet for a drink or go to a bar and hang out and he was reluctant and eventually declined. We continued to chat and eventually made plans for him to pick me up and head to the beach and chill. After a couple more exchanges he told me he was 17, as soon as I read that i declined because he was too young , he then proceeded to tell me that he'll be in town for the next couple of days. We continued to chat and I was desperate to make new friends at the time (i live a very solitary life) and said what the heck and asked for his consent to hang, he said yes and asked me for my address. Like an idiot I gave him my address and proceeded to chat with him, he was really nice told me he was on his way...about an hour later i recieved a call from a "police officer" stating that he had gotten into an accident and my number was the last person he communicated with (which I thought was odd) i asked if he was on and the officer said that he couldn't tell me but it wasn't fatal. At this point I was freaked the hell out and worried...about 4 days later I received an odd segmented text saying this is so and so, corys father and that his wife had gone through his underage sons phone and to call him to sort it out. I text him back freaking out and he said he would call me when he was free. He called and he said his son was in the hospital and his wife wanted to press charges. He stated that I seemed like a good guy and that he would talk to her to try to calm her down and he was at church function in S.C. and his wife lived in FL (Where I live) and that he would call me back. Eventually he did and he said his wife would not press charges if agreed to pay damages to the car, that they couldnt afford it, their house Florida was damaged in a hurricane, and they would need to take out a loan to pay for the damages, freaked out, I agreed and he said he could call me back with an estimate. Days later he called me back and said it would.cost 4,400 dollars to repair. I am disabled (hence the loneliness) and told him I wasn't making money at the time and was waiting for a substantial check in the mail from a supportive relative to help him out. He now calls me every two weeks to follow up, saying his wife is "on his ass" about it...it just doesn't add up...im still kinda freaked out...i don't have his name, b/c in my anxiety i deleted the initial text... but his number is 803-310-5400 and his "son" Corys number is 803-730-4773....this ALL seems so elaborate to be a scam...please help!

Hello,
They are attempting to extort money from you. Contact you local police department and see it they will take a report from you. They will probably be interested in the person claiming to be a police officer.
Stop all contact with these criminals by either blocking all calls and messages or just ignore the attempts to contact you.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

Unfortunately i dont have the number of the alleged police officer...Thank you so much for your response, I will block him now. I hope this post helps others to avoid this criminal activity. Word of advice, stay away from Craigslist, it is a hive of scum and villainy.

Its a scam .

Its essentially the same scam as posted with a few details changed . The thing that concerns me is that you gave them your ADDRESS . I would strongly advise that you Report this Extortion Attempt Immediately and quit hanging out on Craigslist . That site is crawling with West African Scammers and other assorted criminals . Apparently you haven't been keeping up on your news :

So yesterday I something happened which shook me. I created a POF acct to meet friends for hang out.. nothing sexual, nothing romantic. I begin to message some people asking them if they want to talk. This one girl "thtstoomuchsauce" responds and begins to make friendly conversation. She then says I have to go text later. So I assumed she wanted to continue the conversation over text, so like an idiot I left my number. So I am under the assumption that the girl is at least 18 because she is on POF and she looks much older than 18.

The next day I get a text "hey wassup" from a number based out of ATL GA, she did not respond for a bit so I was like who is this stop playing games. I even called the # and a name "carla loverherways frieson" came up on my true caller app...no answer. Later she texts me back letting me know it was "Sania" from POF and so I began to be cool with her and talk about things. I asked her why she had a GA # and she said because she was from there but moved here. immediately she says send me a pic of you right now, so thinking that this is just a normal girl trying to be cool and make friends I send a picture of myself as I was walking across the street. We continue to conversate. The chat goes on and somehow the issue of age comes up, and she tells me that she is 17 turning 18 in march. 17?? I was like ok you're too young basically saying that I was bummed out because she was attractive and I thought she was older. She said something along the lines of "I know what I like, and I like my men in their prime". So I was like ok whatever. I then asked her what exactly she was looking for, and she straight up said "a f*ck buddy". I responded with "straight to the point huh" and she proceeded to say yea are you down? Then I went online to look up what the legal age of consent was in my state, and read that it was 16 years old, so I just responded with "potentially" not yes, not lets do it, just "potentially" because that was really not my intention.

any ways I told her I am not looking for any trouble, and she responded by saying neither am i. So I was like ok whatever ill just keep talking. She kept asking me for pictures and not funny ones so I was assuming she was asking for an sext pic. I had never done anything like this before, so I refrained from doing it. I asked her to describe her body or show me, I did not ask for any nude photos, but rather just a pic where I could get an idea of what her figure was like, and she proceeded to send me a photo which did not DL for whatever reason to my phone, I asked if she could send it over kik or email and she got upset and accused me of playing games and then blocked my #. I msged her back on POF asking why she blocked me and then she said because she was annoyed. she asked for my # again and then re added me. The next day the file opened and it was a picture of her torso nude pic with her head cropped out. the person she sent a pic did have an attractive body so I responded with something which was not very appropriate "dem tits though". It was essentially a compliment. she kept insinuating that she wanted an inappropriate picture from me, so since the pic she sent me put me in some kind of mood, i was like whatever, and just sent one. Again, I have never done something like this before. she then insinuated that I was fake and asked for my FB Link. I did not want to provide it, so I sent three more selfies (of my face) and a video of me saying that I was real. I asked her to do the same, but she refused to send me any sort of proof. The conversations never went any further than that in terms of being inappropriate. She stopped texting and I stopped texting and decided to go to bed, but before I went to bed I said id like to meet you, either you can come up here or I can come down that way. later the next day, around 4:45 I get a text from her saying hey whats up? and I responded with nothing just finishing up work, "hows that going" I responded great. put my phone down and at 5:56 I get another text. this time it was different. it was someone claiming to be her sister saying that if I didnt answer her phone call in three mins she would be going to the police pressing charges for child pornography, indecent exposure and soliciting a minor. So now is where I was like WTF.

She called me from the same # now saying it was the mother of the girl and asked me why I would do this. I was responded with I am sorry, I looked up the age of consent in my state and it is 16, and your daughter was on a site for 18 year+ people and that I had not done even done anything physical with her daughter or whatever. Some how this woman got my full name and my sisters name and said that if my apology was not good enough she would be reporting me. After about 30 mins of begging this woman for forgiveness and saying that I made a mistake, I was like what more do you want from me? she proceeded to say "what are you going to give me millions of dollars?" and I responded NO i dont have millions of dollars, is this entrapment or some sort of scam? she then said oh you think this is a joke? I am not going to be nice now, you are going to bring me 2000 dollars. I then said I do not have 2000 dollars, she lowered her price to 1500 and then I said I do not have 1500. She said oh k well I will be pressing charges and I will see you in court. I was freaking out so I drove to the local police station where they gave me a # to file a complaint I filed the complaint and spoke with the woman for 45 mins explaining what had happened. She told me that they were scamming me and I hadnt done anything wrong because she was over the age of consent. When I got off the phone with this woman, i proceeded to call a lawyer and the law office spoke to me for another half hour and they also told me it was someone attempting extortion and trying to scam me out of my money. I then found this forum and read the number of posts with similar stories and it did provide me with some sort of comfort but all day I have been on edge. On my lunch break I called another lawyer and explained the situation. at the end as he was laughing, he told me that this is 99.9% a scam and that I have nothing to worry about, and that if they call back or if they call as a detective or officer, to say that I am willing to speak to you but only with a lawyer present.

I deleted my POF acct because this stuff is too un necessary and it just goes to show how easily someone can fall into a trap of doing something they would never normally do. Although this acct was deleted, I had another acct which had no info and no pics of myself which I had started to create from years ago. I logged on to it and sure enough she had re activated her acct and was online today. the supposid mother knew that she was on the site, and I think any real good parent concerned with their daughter sexting and meeting men online would have that junk shut down immediately.

Anyways ladies and gents please be careful and don't fall into the trap of a fake or even real pretty lady, make sure what you are doing is 100% ok because you would not want to experience this stress and anxiety, even morally I feel as if I had done something wrong.

Please watch out for:
Name: Sania
POF Acct: thtstoomuchsauce
phone: 4046712399
METRO PCS phone from ATL

Oh another thing, I found online that this phone/number has been active for like 7 years which would mean the girl would have had it since she was 9 years old provided she was the age the mom/sister said she was.

Based on the number of similar stories, things that the police and lawyer told me I wanna say that its safe to say that this is a scam attempt, but I still have this horrible feeling inside me. And this shit is so not like me, I am just going through a bad time in my life and needed to be social, one thing lead to the next and I made a big fat mistake.

I suggest that you do not send anything to someone who says they are less the age of 18.

I will not get into educating scammers. However, you walked a thin line.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.
