"Debra Dawn" or "Debra Tia" is an internet scammer preying on the vulnerable and those looking for love. She signs up at dating sites and pretends to be a 26 year old US citizen from Utah or Georgia. She says she works for an antique dealer and is on a business trip buying antiques in Nigeria. It's all lies. She sweet-talks her victim into falling for her, and once she has her victim hooked she asks for money. It is supposedly for her flight home and for BTA - she says this is basic travelling allowance which the Nigerian travel agent insists is required before she can fly back to the US. Why her employer has not already bought her a return ticket is never adequately explained. In the most recent case that we heard of, she asked for $2,800 for the flight and $2,500 for the BTA - hardly basic. To fund this, she sends the victim a fake check. After a few days, the bank puts the funds into the victim's account. It is not cleared, but the victim may think it is and send the money via Western Union. When the bank realises the check is fake, they debit the victim's account with the full amount of the check and costs, and maybe even close the account and call the police.
Debra is not fussy when she is looking for 'love'. She will scam anyone and everyone. Which is why she is signed up at all these different sites, for Christians, Jewish, French, Korean, sites for dwarf and disabled daters, and swingers. We have listed the pages, but the last two are adult sites, so please take care where you click. The first two have pictures - are they even the same woman? She signed up twice at the first link but with the same dodgy credit card. That site spotted her as a scammer, so there's a warning posted.
