Beware of Sgt Benjamin Patterson. Also doing the same thing. I was not so lucky I got scammed out of $500 dollars before realized what had happened. I feel so stupid because I truly believed he was for real. They really have the speeches down to a science. They know exactly what to say and how to win you over. I had just gotten out of a relationship where I was hurt and he was so sympathetic to my hurt that he won me over. I am so stupid because I knew better. I knew some things he said did not match up but I wanted to be loved so bad. Watch out for him he was on Webdate, however when I went back to look for him today he was gone. Even the messages we had passed back and forth were gone. I have decided now that I can never trust a man again. My whole life I have been walked over by them so I am through looking for love.
Remember the name Sgt Benjamin Patterson says he is from Newark NJ and posted Army photos of a nice looking man.

Dont feel bad only reason I didnt fall for the story is because I have family that are in the service and I know how they work. At one time my son and I just found it to be a joke because we had 5 or 6 names and we know it was the same man. A real military personal does not have any charges and they can only them self ask for a leave no family or outsiders can do that. It Also has been my experience that once they get your email addy they start with the you have inherited scam or I found money scam or some other crazy scam. Best advice I can Give you is IF their Is Money Involved either your going to get or their asking for it, ITS A SCAM. Good Luck and sorry you got scamed.

I was contacted earlier this month by a so called soldier who claimed he was in Iraq & is still talking to me even now, he has requested I ask for leave & I even received the document for the request. I should WARN everyone though that this person even took his little scam one stange further & actually sent me flowers & chocolates, sadly for him I now know he is a scammer & will not be requesting leave for him. The best advice I can give anyone about a scammer is if it involves money then DONT DO IT, put his name in Google & research it & always look for tell tale signs that you are being scammed. This man told me he had a daughter called Debbie & how her mum had left her when she was young, he relys on you ladies to feel sorry for the child. He even told me she had a birthday this month, but then when I said I would like to send her a gift he began making excuses about security. These scammers encourage the victive to leave the site soon after he begins talking to them & then he can really work on them to extract money. AGAIN I SAY NEVER SEND MONEY TO SOMEONE YOU HAVE NEVER MET AS IT IS PROBABLY A SCAM..... I admit the flowers where a nice touch & even came Interflora but please dont be fooled by this. Make it your golden rule never to send money !

I'm sorry that you wasted time on this scammer, but glad that you didn't lose any money.

Unfortunately, the flowers and chocolates were inevitably purchased with someone's stolen credit card. This is actually a normal part of the scam for some scammers.

As you said, you should NEVER send money to someone based on an online relationship, but in this case, it is even simpler than that. People from outside the military do not (actually they cannot--it is not allowed) make requests of any kind for people in the military. The moment someone asks you to make a request for him/her--whether it is for leave, phone, or some other reason, like beneficiary paperwork--it is a guarantee that you are dealing with a scammer.

[Ok after discovering this was a fraud I contacted the people who supposedly were handling the leave to not contact me anymore and this is what I received back from them. This is from the Afghanistan State Defense Dept. who was in charge of the leave transfer and money. I am sorry I deleted the previous messages because I was hurt and mad.
It came through as URGENT RESPONSE REQUIRED:

We hereby send you this message in response to the mail received from you as regards your fiance's leave procession.We however resent the fact that you have taken Afghan's Department of Defense as a figure of mockery.Be adviced that the solicitor who has been hired to notarize Sgt.Benjamin Patterson has a global stance and would not condone any form incompetence from you.

Sgt.Benjamin Patterson's leave procession has now been notarized and we still await your response as to topping up his Afghan Military Card meant to cover for all schemes while he is in the United States of America on vocational leave.

I guess now this is a new group because I have not seen them mentioned in any of the other posts on here.
They are who I have been corresponding with when all this started. Their email is [email protected] It is really scary about all of this because they are so convincing. Even the conversations we had online were like normal conversations. He talked about an island in New Jersey and things he has done there. Talked about his dog and there was a picture of this guy and his dog. All the pictures he sent were all of the same guy. So where do they get these pictures from and who are the people in them? I wish I could contact this man and tell him what is going on. Is there some way of posting these pictures so the real people will know. I hope no one else gets burned by this like I did I fell really hard. This guy is still trying to contact me on Instant Messaging and telling me he really is Benjamin Patterson and that he will find a way to prove it without the state defense dept. Still sounding convincing. I just let him talk and did not answer back. LET OTHERS PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!!

A friend of mine found your web site and we read all the reports so I decided to pull the old reversal on him and act like I was the poor one.
