He's now playing the cautious type..

You may have noticed the tell-tale signs of a scammer.

1 - "Am" instead of "I am"
2 - Says he is "God Fearing" - do you know any American or Briton who claims that?
3 - He says his brother is "late." Most Americans or Brits would say the man was dead or that he had "passed on."
4 - He gave you his email address and said he wasn't on the Plentyoffish" site often. That is because he's expecting to be dropped from the site as women report him as a scammer.
5 - His son's name is "willaims" - even allowing for a typo, that is not a standard English name.

There are several other indicators that this man is not what he claims to be, and the search that turned up the scam report is gravy.

He's not using pics from a modelling site, though.

I knew the red pointers when I saw them.. I had his account at POP deleted.. and actually I am exchanging emails with this guy while we're doing this.. just being curious as to be knowing what exactly he wants etc etc..

He doesn't write much about himself.. he just copies and pastes and adds a little more onto it.. Ugh..

I do hope you're being careful when corresponding with him. Are you using any of your real information? Even though you are very aware that he is a scammer (and thus not likely to fall for him), you don't want to reveal anything about yourself to him. It's not very likely that he'll come to your neck of the woods, but it's safest to be completely disguised.

What you're doing is called baiting - wasting the scammer's time so that he has less time to spend on real potential victims. Our sisteer site, www.419eater.com, is chock-full of baiters. You might want to pop over there and check out the landscape.

Scammers in Africa see the booming construction industry in that part of the world as a very lucrative business to be in. I suppose government contracts are much the same anywhere in the world. And much of the building in West Africa is paid for with oil money. Funny, though, they have little understanding of the industry. When questioned why an engineer would design a building or why an architect is involved with the actual construction, they tend to pass it off with little or no explanation. It just sounds good to them.

Sadly, I'm convinced that many people don't really read the profiles on the dating sites. There are so many contradictions in the profiles scammers post that red flags should be waving in plain sight. Kudos to you for recognizing them.

Anyhows, I have been to the mentioned site, been checking out the can do's and can't do's to be a scam baiter.
I'm just willing to play along and hoping to nail the bugger when they do the mistake of revealing too much and forget to scramble their originating IP, since this dude's IP has been scrambled to come from Sunnyvale, CA, USA.

This guy now wants me to IM him soon. Hmm.. thing is no IMs reveal the IP.. but my flash chat does.. hehe..
