It looks like she is writing to several others, which is a good indication that she, or better he as most of the scammers are male, is in fact a scammer. There are scammers who will wait untill the right moment to start asking for money, and that can take a while. The photo steel has posted is typical for romance scammers. It's likely taken of a website where young models put their portfolio, or the scammer found her photo's on facebook. How did "she" get in contact with you? Did you receive her first email out of the blue, or are you registerred to an online dating service? Could you post some of her emails here and maybe some photo's? You can also send them via PM to me or another support team member, if you don't want to post them on the public forums. Then we can get a clearer picture of this scammer.

A few other tips when dealing with women from FSU:

-Look for the Bat! anywhere in the headers. That is a mass mailer, and if it is there, it is safe to assume that this is a scammer or a pro-dater.

-Another thing to look for is inconsistencies between the letter and the photo. Scammer often don't know the age/height/weight of the person in the real photo, so there may be obvious mistakes in their guesses. In this case, the person in the photo clearly has blue eyes, yet they state they have black eyes.

-look for setups leading to the money requests. You have the start of one here:

By saying "she" wants to meet you but can't afford it, the scammer is starting to set the foundation for money requests.

'The Bat!' will be in the headers - look for a line that says: "X-Mailer: The Bat! (version xxxx)"

It is, as Dotti says, a mass mailing program, used by most FSU scammers - it automatically changes names in the scripts they send, so they can send the same letter to many at the same time.
