Oro Valley woman arrested for internet fraud

ORO VALLEY- An Oro Valley woman was arrested for internet fraud, after police discovered she was purchasing online merchandise with unauthorized bank accounts.

Oro Valley Police say they received two reports between June 15 and June 18 saying someone was illegal purchasing merchandise through TigerDirect.com and the items were being sent to an address in the 4200 block of North First Avenue.

Police served a search warrant at the apartment and arrested [her], 23, after items were discovered in the apartment that connected her to the illegal purchases.

[She] told police she applied for a job online and was told to purchase the items and mail them to another destination. She told police the 'employer' never paid her, so she placed approximately 50 illegally purchased items on Craigslist and tried to sell them.

She admitted to police she knew she was involved in something illegal.

[She] is charged with one count of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices.

OVPD is asking anyone with information on this case, to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
