A woman from Luton has been jailed for using internet dating sites to con men into giving her almost £500,000.
Maria Nistor, 32, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation. She was sentenced to five years in prison at Luton Crown Court on Friday.
She extorted money from single men who were interested in starting a relationship by lying about her financial situation and asking for money, which she promised to return with interest.
The five victims, who do not wish to be identified, paid her sums totalling £488,000 between April 2011 and October 2013.
Nistor was charged by Bedfordshire Police following analysis of her bank accounts.
She will also face a confiscation hearing to reclaim the gains she made by criminal activity.
