I thought I would add this information for everyone as well. I met someone on cupid.com and things just were not adding up.
Here is some of the things he told me:
He was not willing to give an APO or FPO.
Has a daughter who has a heart condition and needs surgery.
Cant get a leave to come home, wanted me to request one and to send it to this address [email protected]
Grandma is taking care of his daughter and has terminal lung cancer.
Uses the email:[email protected] and when i did an IP trace it is from Norway. Stated that he could not send email from his military email.
gave me this for his information:LT James Morgan ( US 53310965.) Platoon leader, scout platoon, 82d SF battalion, kabul, afghanistan, picutres that he sent to me have the last name of Marhx.
When I asked about the different names he tried to tell me I was confused and that he had changed his name last year and that I had forgot about that.
Wanted to know if I had a credit card and an retirement account.

I was able to track down the "real" person and his fiance and informed them that this has happened.

I hope that this is helpful for someone out there and they do not fall for this.

Thanks for posting squeekr!

It would really help if we could profile this scammer. Could you post some of the emails he sent you? The emails are often scripts that the scammer will continue to use even when his character name changes, so having them posted is very helpful to help others. The email address and any phone numbers he gave you would also be helpful.

Can you see if it is a scammer?

So, this is a scammer in Nigeria. For my future protection, is there any way to tell from the email information?
I feel like a fool. But, at least knowing this is a scammer may help someone else to not fall for this scumbag.
FYI, this guy was really slick . . . said all the right things and seemed to be on top of everything he said. I didn't have any questions until I saw the post on this websit.
So, thanks to you!!!!!!

Here is another email from this scammer. It's an email that his supposed daughter sent to me. He gave me the whole sob story of his daughter with a heart condition and wanted me to send money to her.

Can you help me for future reference . . . is there anything in these email that would be a clue to look for?

Welcome here support20.

Thanks for posting these e mails and headers.
The only tip i can give you is that you always need to be cautious, and suspicious. Check the headers, but be aware that some scammers use a proxy. Do a google search, and in case the scammer is using a brandnew e mail address, google parts of the e mail message. Read this info about romance scammers HERE

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

I've had General LT Morgan on Skype and also a few other military people, it was spelt wrong on one Geneal someone or other. I didn't speak to them, I just declined contact. If they are saying nice things to you when they don't even know you, it's 2 good 2 b true. It is a scam! Just think, why would someone from the military just add you to their contact list and correspond, it's bonkers, they wouldn't do that. I

What's his Skype ID? Could you post his messages? Did he email you? If so, could you post them with headers?

Now those punks from Nigeria changed the name from James Morgan to Daniel Harry sending "packages" to innocent people. It's been reported to police, they are tracking them by their IP address.

I met a guy on POF I think it was who asked me to use hangouts. so I did, he claims to be in the army, but single. IDK if it's the same person, but he is harassing me and won't stop. Since we are on hangouts and I deleted our previous messages I have nothing to go off of. I hadn't talk to him in months. He asked me to let him use my paypal account which I didn't and now he keeps telling me he's going to expose me? On what I have no clue...lol I'm a pretty laid back person but still makes me nervous ya know..
