Persons with profiles on modeling websites are getting emails from a gmail account, latest one being [email protected]. They use legitimate company names before the @gmail,com. They claim to be representing Almay and there are two versions of this scam.
The first is that they want to hire you for a 4 hour photo shoot, will pay you in advance for 2 hours and need your banking information to send the advance. Occasionally they will claim accounting problems and will offer to send you double if you would forward the balance to someone who is the photographer for the shoot.
The second is that they have alot of models lined up and if you want the job you have to send an advance deposit for the photo studio to make sure you show up. They will claim it will be reimbursed when you show up for the photo shoot.
They target mostly mostly in the UK and US and they find the victims on modeling websites. Their emails have been shut down by gmail but they migrate quickly.
The Almay and Revlon social media pages have warnings about this scam. Spreading the word.
