Hi Alexander,
Welcome to Scamwarners

I am also sorry to hear that you have sent money to him yes, sorry, while there is a slight chance that it is a she, it would be very unusual.

I am presuming that he has some of your real information including your name and pictuire as well as other details, it would not be wise to continue communicating wit hteh scammer at this stage.

Your best course of action is to cease all contact immediately, the scammer will continue to send you emails complete with lies trying to convince you she is real and need further money from you.

Once the scammer realises you will not be sending money he may do one of a number of things;
1. contact you from a different email address, using a different name and try to scam you again under a new identity in much the same way
2. Contact you and tell you they are trying to help you to bring the scammer to justice and / or retrieve your money, recovery scams are often attemopted on those who have previously been scammed
3. The scammer will give up ond move along to try to scam the next person

You need to be on your guard, scammers believe that a person who has previously been scammed makes a better target so you are likely to receive more scam emails than ever.

There are a number of things you can do about this to get some payback for the money you have lost.

The best way to hurt the scammer at the moment is to ensure that you have posted as much information here as possible about the scam and the way it works.

The scammers name, email address and any other details you were given as well as complete emails, especially the early ones that are likely to be scripted, you dont need to post your own information or any references made specifically to you but anything else would be great, pottential victims then have a chance of finding your information and thus avoid being scammed.

The next thing you can do is to tell your family and friends, the more people know about this the less likely they are to be scammed

After the first 2 things are done, the next thing you may consider is to begin baiting, now this is where the fun starts, while you are emailing the scammer and getting replies, you are wasting his time, time that he may otherwise be spending trying to scam a victim.

Our sister site has a section devoted to romance scam baiting which I have provided a link for http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=44
The members there will be happy to help you to get started and to make sure you know how to safely bait them, I wont go into detail here about that but the members at 419eater will, I also encourage you toi read through this http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125681 its an educational piece on baiting romance scammers that was put together by some of the best love baiters around, you will find it both educational and rewarding and time well spebnt if you want to play with scammers.

Of course, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask but I will point out that we at Scamwarners are best suited to dealing with fraud victims while 419eater specialises in baiting scammers, there is a very big cross over of membership but we dont all use the same identities on both sites

Thanks for posting your story and thanks in advance for providing the deatils of the scammer involved
