I am not a computer expert but I have two things to comment on

1) as far as I know your location can't be seen by anybody if you are using the web service of Yahoo or Gmail and the originating IP would be the server that yahoo and Gmail used to send the email 2) everybody today is using some kind of proxy or VPN to encrypt their connection and hide their IP

So maybe you need more info to be sure, I don't think that would be hard if he is a real scammer

Welcome, Rose.
Your information regarding yahoo is incorrect, and while you may always use one, the majority of people still operate without proxies (or use them improperly and inadvertently reveal their location.)

If you are involved with, or connected to, the person calling himself "Wise Link" or "Link Wise" (the name being another classic sign of a scammer who does not understand English names), we will be more than happy to help you out.

With that said, however, we do actually request that the profile and/or some of the scammers actual messages be posted, so Marylin, if you still have some of the messages, please do post them.

while i respect you answer Admin but i would say most of these it is very hard to found out who is actually scammers your example according to none experience scammers are right like having names ("Wise Link" or "Link Wise") yes this is to found out that they are scammers.

But there are certian tricky peoples are out there that are too smart and foul out peoples like it happened with vworker.com case i have read out my self the whole story how scammers foul out peoples and got there passwords and were playing with peoples accounts untill admin releases and get that sorted out.

Unfortunately, something is lost in the translation, and I honestly cannot figure out the point you are trying to make, so I will do my best to clarify:

-Yahoo does not hide location.
-Some scammers are easy to identify.
-Some scammers are hard to identify.
-Yes, some scammers do use hacked or phished emails belonging to honest people. We see this all the time, for example when scammers mass-mail their formats from college students' addresses. We do not, and never will, claim that those students are the scammers.
-Scammers frequently use names and/or photos of innocent people. We know, and we frequently reiterate that neither the name nor photo are real.

I think that what you are talking about is an email sent or supposedly sent from vworker.com accounts? Things like that happen all the time, and we do see that kind of situation, but it is very different than the scams we cover here, and there are many indicators that would tell us that it is not the same from the very start.

In the case above, the OP was approached by someone who was claiming to be an engineer in UK. His true location was shown to be Malaysia. Honest people DO NOT LIE ABOUT WHAT COUNTRY THEY ARE IN, PERIOD.
The very fact that he started out by lying about the country he is in is reason enough to stay away from this person. When you add the fact that his true location is an area with a very high concentration of romance scammers who often claim to be engineers, and his name is implausible, you already have an answer to the scammer question. When the OP posts more, I can already tell you it will contain many more red flags.

What and how people write gives away much more than they often know. For example, I am from the US. This should come as no surprise. If I claimed to be from your country, I wouldn't be able to fool you for long if you were paying close attention to what I wrote. And if I approached someone on a dating site, and told a lot of major lies, the person I lied to would have every right (and reason) to alert people to watch out for me.

Similarly, if I were to claim to be from Germany, born to German parents, and I used a name like "Gonzales Theresa" my name alone would raise some serious red flags to people in many countries, who would quickly recognize that Gonzalez is not a first name, and is most definitely not a German name.
So to reiterate: When someone is posted as a scammer here, there is evidence to demonstrate that they are in fact lying and exhibiting characteristics typical of a scammer. If there is no evidence, the posts are removed. If we post that John Smith of [email protected] is a scammer, we know that the person’s real name is not John Smith—but that is the name he is using to scam people, so it is a name that should be watched.
