A typical fake job or Payment representaive scam. The way it works is that the scammer will arrange for a person to print fake checks and send them to the unsuspecting victim who respond to this "offer" of employment. Unfortunately many people feel comfortable receiving these payments as they believe that their banks' check clearing procedures will protect them. This is a false assumption. A bank may "clear" a check within an agreed time, such as three or five days but when the check is later found to be fraudulent, the bank will come after the account holder for the money. The victim will have no legal recourse with regard to the check having previously been "cleared" by their bank.
