Well, I Google scams and nothing shows up for this type of thing, so I considered giving it a shot. I already had a computer, printer, white paper, and tape. I only bought the checks and envelopes. Later I continue talking throughout the day with her as she explains I'll be doing payroll for companies that pay her company to handle there payroll... well, After the material is sent over I start looking further in to it. I start questioning the lady about this list of ppl I'm sending these checks to, about what company she works for, all sorts of questions// I tell her I've heard someone speak of the same thing, just to see what the response would be and she replies :
1:29:18 PM
Alicia Rooney: oh am very sad to hear this but i want you to understand that the job you are doing for me is %100 legit and real and i have been doing this job over 5years now without any problem
1:29:28 PM
Alicia Rooney: so i gues the
1:30:40 PM
Alicia Rooney: our company is different from each other and i deal with scam am a lady like you that also have kids and have further for my family so that dont deal with something that is not real okay
1:31:55 PM
Alicia Rooney: <ding>
1:32:12 PM
Alicia Rooney: i really want you to have faith in this Job.....
1:32:15 PM
Alicia Rooney: Am a lady like you
1:41:53 PM
Alicia Rooney: am very honest and trustworthy lady
1:43:48 PM
Alicia Rooney: why will i say something and you keep doubting of me and i have told ypoiu severals times that you dont have any problem in working with me and mind you you already bought the materials which am going to paid you back so what else do you want from it seems you are taken me for fool for not understanding me

Anyway, later she says she works for Linwood Fabric Co. yet shes doing payroll for companies all over the US.
The list of names was from a company that supposedly has been in busines for over 10 years, yet when you google that name it doesn't exist. Sadly, I really wanted this to be true but of course, as usual it was a freaking SCAM! Luckily, I was albe to return the itmes I did buy :) I've come to the conclusion that you can't trust ppl off Craigslist lol I hope no one comes across this, but if you do, I hope you see this first. I'm not sure how they benefit from this other than getting someone to print fake checks and sending them all over the world, but THERE IS A PROBLEM with the picture. Sorry so long also, I just wanted to provide as much details as possible. :!:

Thanks for posting! It looks like it's written by a West African, and the story doesn't make sense. Real companies do not hire random people to work at home doing payroll. There are companies that specialize in payroll and have their software set up to handle transfers to bank accounts, retirement accounts, keeping track for tax purposes, and everything else that payroll involves.

Here's how the scam works (one possibility): Sam hires Alice to print fake checks and Bob to cater a party. Sam tells Bob he wants 100 orders of <some dish at Bob's restaurant> on <date>, and will send Peter to pick it up. Sam tells Alice to print a check for the cost of the food plus the cost of the pickup and send it to Bob. Alice sends the check to Bob. Bob sends the cost of the pickup to Peter by Western Union. Bob prepares food, but Peter never shows up. Several weeks later, the bank figures out that the check is fake. Peter forwards the money to Sam, and Bob has lost both the time to prepare the food and the money to pick it up.

I would like to sincerely thank you for this information. I too put an ad on Craigslist looking for some part time work and received and email from this same person. Upon sending a response to their initial questions, they responded with an email that was word for word verbatim to the email response you received. Once I received that email I began doing some research into it as well and couldn't find anything to begin with. Then I searched "Alicia Rooney job" which is where I came across this. So I just responded to that email making it sound like I was really excited about the job and then I put "The only problem I have is that I am not a f@@king idiot that doesn't do any research before falling for these fake a@@ job posts." I then continued on with some not so nice statements and posted the link to this site showing that it was a scam. I cannot wait to see if they reply to that email. Once again I thank you for posting about this scam. You just saved me from a lot of headaches.

Best Regards,

Russell,

I'm glad you were able to avoid being scammed.

One small point, though...it is best not to link scammers to posts here about them, as that only encourages them to change their fake identities so that the next victim won't find them. It is best if they keep trying to scam under the same fake info, as that means the next victim who searches will find them too.

Does this sound like the same scam? And when I call the numberit sends me to a voicemail for a woman. and he sent me money thru paypal for reinbursment? but ti was two different women. I'm not sure if this is they same scam. If it isn't, I dont wanna mess up, but if it is I want to lose all contact with this guy.

This is a scam. No real employer pays by Western Union, and a legitimate payroll company would buy check paper itself, not tell you to buy it.

Welcome to Scamwarners shanateeters,

Yes it is a scam. The scammer is having you print checks from hacked bank account or fake accounts. The mailing accounts (USPS,UPS and Fedex) will also be hacked accounts.

Any money you receive will be from the scammers others victims. He could be running all types of scams on these people.

Stop all contact with scammer. If you have the mail accounts and banking accounts take it to your local post office. Print out your emails and show them to the Post Office.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

I wish I had the account numbers and things. He wont send them to me unless i have the checks already. boo. I'd really love to get him in trouble lol. I hate that people do this to others. He sent me money via paypal to reimburse for labels and to buy check paper. Rephrase, he had two other women send me money. I've blocked him on gmail, yahoo, etc. We called and realized its a spoofed number or something. You can only text the number, not call. When I wasn't replying, he text me and said "I can't believe you scammed me"and he had this other number text me saying he was Steves assistant,James Fletcher, and he believe that I AM A SCAMMER!!! If i were scamming him, I'd asked for the whole 1100 dollars up front. then cut him off.He says he works at Paychex, Inc. The accounts the money came from on paypal were Linda Krzywda and Tiffany Clapper. I've already reported him on the FBI website. Also guys the names to look out for are:

Steve Roderick
James Fletcher

Phone numbers:
4842220267- Steve
5042731363- James

Emails:
[email protected] -Steve

Yahoo screenname:
specialistpayroll - Steve

I'd say the females, but im not sure if they are real people that got hacked or what.
