Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.

I filled out an application I believed was for PODS Inc in a Hudson Valley, NY location. The "recruiting company" allegedly representing them was FST Recruitment. Here is the email I received on Sept 24, 2013 below:

Dear Applicant, Thank you for your interest. I am the human resources manager for a fortune 500 recruitment agency. Our organization helps companies and small businesses find qualified applicants in different niche markets. Today, our client forwarded us your recent inquiry about a vacant position. After reviewing your information we have decided to move forward with you and start a screening process. This position is open for immediate hiring, and the client is looking for the right applicant as soon as possible. Please complete our short application form through the secure website in this email as a next step before a live interview. This will take less than 5 minutes. After completion I will get back to you within 3-5 business days. Please follow the online application link below: http://fstcrecruitment.org/application

Your personal application number is 2392271 Please note that the application number is valid for 24 hours.
Kindest Regards,
Laura R.
Human Resources Manager

Somewhere in the application process, I was also asked to run a security check on myself through US SEARCH, and that I would be reimbursed at the interview. I did contact ussearch.com and explained to them what happened, and they refunded the $21 I spent right away. That was the only money I spent on this scam... so what is FST Recruitment gaining? My personal information? So far there is nothing missing from my accounts. Is there something I should do to protect myself? I may have given my social, I don't remember. I certainly gave name, number address.

Here is the full header from "Laura R" with my name and email taken out as your tips advise...

Thank you for any advice

Welcome to Scamwarners redflag22,

It is a scam job/employment offer. It appears that you did not go far enough for the money request. The scammer wanted the credit check only for the purpose of making the job sound legitimate. He did not make any money on that. He was hoping to recruit you as a money mule or later ask for money. As for your SS number you can go to a Credit Bureau a place an alert on all three credit reporting agencies.
