I had an IM interview with a Sir Elvin Segarra claiming to be the HR director for the Swiss Life Group that used the same interview questions verbatim. I knew it was a scam and played along with him even telling him that I got his fake certified check drawn to PNC bank. He wanted me to send Devon Williams (certified vendor) for the software. He called Americans fools for falling for such and proceeded to laugh online at me. I told him that I hope he gets raped like a b#### when they catch him. What got me was I asked if this was a scam and God would take care of him for me, he went on about him being a God-fearing man & he was 68yrs old and he wouldn't do such a thing. I can't understand why people would prey on unemployed people who are just trying to make an honest living.

Hi, this happened to me just now.

I received this message in oDesk and it looks suspicious to me, but I still added her to my YM acct, and had a regular interview that looks very promising, I was hired within 30 minutes of just chatting, to good to be true!

Good thing I followed my instinct and googled it and voila! its a spam! This is just a warning to everyone.

I just had the same scam. I use oDesk to find online jobs to apply for. I received an email a couple days ago from a company saying that they were looking for Administrative Assistant Service Needed.

Here was the message they sent:

Dear Applicant,

I will like to personally invite you to this job posted on oDesk.com and the Human Resources of the company has decided to give you a chance to proceed to the next employment process, you have been considered and scheduled for an online interview to discuss more about the position offered. You are required to set up a yahoo mail (www.yahoomail.com) and download yahoo messenger (http://messenger.yahoo.com). After this process, you are to add the Hiring Manager (Ms Angela Harper) on Yahoo IM, yahoo ID is ([email protected]) to your yahoo buddy list ASAP for the job briefing and comprehensive details. lacyanderic7705: As long as this is real, I will put my time and effort into the company. I had an issue in the past with another oDesk job that was sent to me. It was an email job. My resposibility was to send emails to a list of email addresses every day (the email was sent to me every morning) and when I got the check from the work that I did, I took it to the bank and found out that it was fake.
lacyanderic7705: I just wanted to make sure this wasn't going to be the same issue.
