Feeding

It’s best to feed your puppy the food your breeder recommends for at least two weeks. If you want to feed your puppy a higher grade or natural grade of dog food start by mixing the new dog food with the present dog food at a 3 to 1 ratio for 5 days. Then mix the dog foods at a 1 to 1 ratio for another 5 days. Next mix the dog foods at a 1 to 3 ratio and feed for 5 days. Now you can feed your Yorkie the new dog food without mixing in the old dog food.Yorkie puppies should eat 3-4 times per day. If you have difficulty with your baby not eating add a bit of warm water. At 12-24 months change to an adult dog food for Yorkshire Terriers. Keep treats and people food to a minimum, (one treat I use is honey nut cheerios) you will only have difficult eater if you over do anything. Keep fresh food and water out at all times (at least until the yorkie is 1 year old). If your yorkie gets a bit stressed add a tsp of honey to fresh drinking water.

-Napping

Yes, taking a nap is just as important, if not more important for a yorkie puppy as it is for children. The size the puppy is one of the factors that determine how often the puppy needs to rest. The naps help the yorkie build back its reserve.

-Bathing

It is necessary to bathe your puppy anywhere from once a week to once a month. The environment, type of haircut, and quality of coat all affect how often your new puppy needs to take a bath. Any good shampoo and conditioner will do. While the yorkie is still wet we recommend that his/her coat be combed with any good quality comb. Once their hair has been combed use a blow dryer to dry their hair.

-Grooming

Daily brushing is recommended to maintain the coat and keep it mat free. When brushing, never brush a dry coat, spray your brush with mixture of water and conditioner then brush him/her. Brushing will keep the hair clean, except on the underside of the body where urine collects on a male. Wash this area daily with a damp cloth and warm water. Wash mucus from the corners of the dog’s eyes, daily if needed, with a cloth or wad of cotton soaked in warm water. Mucus will rot your pet’s hair if it’s not removed. Dry your yorkie off carefully. Take special care to keep the hair around the Yorkie’s anus clean. It is common for this hair to become matted with feces. Hair on his feet will need trimming occasionally. How To Trian Your Yorkie

The first thing you need to do when training a Yorkie is to take control of the household. The fact is, that cute little dog thinks he/she is in charge of the house and many times they are in charge. If you let them they will continue to show you they are in charge. So, you need to establish boundaries and be the leader of the pack. Following are some basic tips to maintain alpha leadership over your Yorkie.

-Feeding Times

Feed your Yorkie at set intervals. Don’t let the dog determine when it wants to eat. On a new puppy we recommend leaving food and water out 24 hrs. a day. Until the new puppy is acclimated to the new environment they are susceptible to hypoglycemia. After a week or two begin feeding the puppy at set intervals, making sure they are getting plenty of food and water during the day.Once a puppy is between 6 months to a year old hypoglycemia usually isn’t an issue.

-Walking

Walk your Yorkshire Terrier twice a day or more, but make sure you control the walk. Remember, you are the leader, so you control the direction of the dog. Leash control is vital in learning how to train a Yorkie. We also only recommend using a harness (not a dog collar) to walk your Yorkie. Because of the size of Yorkshire Terriers walking them in the your house or apartment would be just fine.

-Jumping and Furniture

With a small dog like a Yorkie, it is easy to let the dog get up whenever it wants. Imposing boundaries by what furniture the dog is allowed on,is a good start to maintaining control of your Yorkie. And please never respond to barking or whining.

-Coming and Going

Ignore your dog when you come and go from the house. I know it can be hard to do but only pay attention to the Yorkie when he/she is in a calm state. To truly learn how to train a Yorkie, you need to be the alpha leader, lest the dog feel in charge.

-Optimizing Mental Stimulation.

A Yorkie usually can get enough exercise by staying in their home, but if you can take them outdoors it will also aid in the mental stimulation of the dog.Train your Yorkie with basic commands like sit and stay, speak and quiet, fetch, and anything else you like. When it comes to learning how to train a Yorkie, reducing the chances for the dog to challenge you and to be overwhelmed with energy and boredom will remove much of the bad temperament issues that most people have when it comes to their rambunctious little friend

GOT THIS NEXT:

Sounds good, my partner and i just went through your email and we feel very comfortable with your reply. We are willing to rehome Cindy to your home and we are so pleased to know you have cared for a dog before. We are currently located in Nevada and since you live in Texas, we will have to ship your puppy to you at no additional cost ,We consider shipping as an option and this is because most often we find suitable homes for our puppies not located within a driving distance.
I can guess what question you have in mind right now, **Flying a Puppy: Is it safe? This question is often asked. Yes, it is a 100% safe and we certainly wouldn't consider it if it wasn't safe for our puppies and besides all our puppies shipped to their new owners since 2005 have always arrived their new owners in healthy conditions without exceptions.

The cost of shipping a puppy within USA ranges from $180 - $210 depending on your location but fortunately we currently have SHIPPING COUPONS within USA (except Hawaii) for free shipping and we are willing to offer one of our Coupons from the two left for your puppy to be delivered to you. As for the paper work and shipping process, it normally takes a couple of hours to complete, though sometimes it could take a little longer, how ever the whole process hardly exceeds one whole day. After payment we will meet the shipping agent and he is going to contact all airlines to find out which of them has the most direct flight to your location then he can book the flight.
Your puppy will come with a handbook that explains more on their life styles as well as feeding, and toilet habits, some vet record which is well explained in the hand book as well as a Puppy Care Kit which includes some helpful information, that should help you
facilitate the transition process in your home. I'll advice you to get the following grooming tools within a month or
two from now: Shampoo, Conditioner, Pin Brush, Nail Clippers, Ear/Pad Trimmer, Ear Lotion, Scissors. About food, I feed all my puppies. Wellness dog food, Grain-free or Purina One and NuVet Vitamin's that are excellent for them. I choose to feed with these because the are relatively modest and readily available across United States at most department or grocery stores. There are many opinions on which dog food to use. This is a decision only you can make, but keep in mind Purina has been making dog food for over 50 years and they do extensive research on nutrition and protein. Other dog foods may cost more but that doesn't necessarily means they are better.

So kindly get back to us with the following information required below so I can start with the adoption papers and delivery arrangements and please let me know if you prefer home delivery or you will like to pick-up your puppy from your closest airport to your home.

Names of recipient:
Tel #:
Closest airport to your home:
Home address :
Preferred date/hours for Pick-up of puppy from airport:

Soon as we have your full delivery information, i shall advice you on how you will be making the payment and once my husband confirms payment, i shall carry on with the paper works and shipping process for Cindy immediately so she will be delivered to your home or closest airport as soon as possible within 24Hrs. .

Thanks and Yearning for your quick reply.
