We have been breeding parrots since 2001, one of the first members of the Louisiana Parrot Society having joined in 2000.
During the past 14 years we have bred from Macaws, Cockatoos, African Greys, Jardines parrots, Senegals, seven species of Lory's Conures, Eclectus, a large number of Australian parakeet species and various love birds.
Our experience with artificial incubation of parrots eggs and hand reared chicks from day old have been numerous and we specialise in the sale of tame hand reared parrot babies

We carry most food lines with an emphasis on Goldenfeast, Kaytee, and Higgins for seeds, and, Zupreem, Pretty Bird, Kaytee, Harrison Bird Diet, and Roudybush for pellets.
We are an authorized dealer for first quality cages, such as Tri Birds, Strong Bird Cages, Featherland Bird Cages, Kings Cages and HQ Cages. Our specialty is stainless steel bird cages.
Also, we carry the best cage, rolling, and tabletop natural wood perches, made from sandblasted grapevine, natural and sandblasted manzanita, coffee wood, and sandblasted dragon wood. Natural wood is a must - the varying diameter of natural wood gives birds' feet the proper exercise. Wooden dowels cause muscle atrophy and arthritis from the lack of range of motion in the feet.
Johnson's Parrots was established in 2001, under current ownership since 2000.
We have over 12,000 unique customers, mostly building the business by word of mouth referrals. Bird ownership is a prerequisite for employment at Johnson's Parrots so you can be sure that whoever you speak with has first hand knowledge of bird ownership.
We all need to take care of our birds - they have no one else but us.
In a perfect world, the rainforests would remain intact, and there would be no need to establish breeding programs, or buy property in the native countries where the wild parrots currently live, in order to perpetuate the many species which are now on the road to extinction.
However, we do not live in a perfect world, and it is almost certain that many of the parrots living in their natural habitat would be extinct within 20 years were it not for (1) domestic breeding programs (regardless of what one Greenpeace founder says), and (2) the outright purchasing of the actual habitat of these Parrots so that they remain in the wild (like the Nature Conservancy). Without credible, honest retailers and breeders, most domestically raised birds lead miserable lives, dying from neglect. Please make sure you understand the responsibilities of bird ownership before committing to take a parrot home. They can live up to 60 years (make sure to properly modify your Last Will and Testament), and it is best for them to stay in same household.
We turn away many people who love the beauty of exotic birds and/or want a parrot that talks, but do not understand the intelligence and corresponding interaction required on a daily basis to keep these incredible creatures happy.
The truth has built our business.
Sure, we "sell" birds.
But we like to think of it as "placing" birds in good homes.
Our mission is to provide money to the breeders who are instrumental in perpetuating the species by educating people and placing these domestically raised birds in great, loving homes.

So the children will always be able to see real, live parrots in person, and we won't be telling them stories that start with, "I remember when they flew in the rainforests...."

Since we ship worlwide, we do have a specific time for those located of the US but we try our best to reply them as soon as we can and tell them of the procedures.
Everyone that is employed with Johnson's Parrots must own at least one bird. Most of us have several. Birds are a part of our family now and forever.
In order to educate ourselves, we continue to attend all major trade shows, we have visited numerous manufacturers and breeders, and have acquired the best industry training available.
We strive to provide our birds with the healthiest food, safest toys, and most social environment. Each day we rotate all birds out of their cage to spend time on our natural wood floorstands, so they can play king of the tree with their buddies and learn to socialize.
Also, they are accessible to anyone who is willing to learn how to properly and safely handle a bird.

Deposits: Most of our birds are sold/reserved while they are being hand fed. Reservations are made by making a deposit. A deposit is non-refundable and is applied toward the total purchase price. Fertile eggs or chicks may be reserved After a chick is 2 weeks old, you may claim it with a 25% deposit The balance may be paid in full prior to shipment or by payments where the balance is paid in full prior to pickup or shipment
Deposits are non-refundable unless the bird is undeliverable Birds once purchased are not returnable except under the conditions set out in the Health Guarantee
Breeder Health Guarantee: Unless otherwise stated, all birds come with a 72-hour limited health guarantee. If your avian veterinarian performs a health examination within the allotted time period [72 hours] and discovers a problem too costly to cure, or a problem that cannot be cured, we will, at our discretion, replace the bird with one of the same kind or value, or buy the bird back. We reserve the right to obtain a second opinion at our expense.The breeder health guarantee is valid when you have the bird examined within the allotted time (72-hours) and, in addition, notify us immediately of any changes in the birds' health. Failure to adhere to these requirements indicates you have purchased the bird "as-is", and waive any warranties of health or fitness.
Shipping Policies: We ship weaned babies only! A weaned bird is one who can fill their own crop for a minimum of two weeks and maintain a reasonable weight, prior to going to their new home. We ship by major airlines on a live animal priority basis. The birds are transported in special facilities with the same pressure and temperature as the passenger cabin. We ship year-round, limited by severe weather conditions, or requirements specific to the airline or the receiving airport, or when it might be unsafe to ship the bird. Airfreight charges vary from one airline to another but generally are around $75 - $200 nationwide. (The distance is not the deciding factor. It is based on the dimensional weight of the shipping crate and declared value of the birds). We ship counter to counter. We always notify the buyer with the flight number, airbill number and arrival time before shipment is made.
Health Certificates: Health certificates may be required for certain states and/or airlines. Avian Adventures Aviary will provide these certificates for an additional charge. Carriers are typically kennel carriers reinforced to prevent accidental escape. These are yours to keep for future use.
Extra Services
Veterinary Tests - Your baby bird can be examined by an avian veterinarian and have testing done, prior to shipping. The exam is an additional cost, and includes an office visit, CBC blood panel, and chlamydia and beak and feather tests. A months' prior notice is required, so results are available prior to the date of shipping.
DNA Test for Sexing - This test will be performed for an additional charge prior to shipping. A months' prior notice is required to ensure the results are available prior to the shipping date. DNA sexing fee is $50 but the cost will be covered by me.
