I received your text, replied it. We usually rent it for almost double, this price is an online only special offer. We're in Cancun,on vacation and i prefer to use email.

I'd be more than happy to rent my apartment to you.
We usually rent it for almost double, this price is an online only special offer.
It's in pristine condition (professionally cleaned, bedding linens towels changed, etc) in 5star condition ready for move-in. You can rent the apartment now or secure it to move in later. Just a few quick questions

Did you see the youtube video ? Do you like the apt ?
How long have you been looking for a rental, are you looking to make a decision soon ?
Do you know the company and website Tripadvisor ? We rent our properties online with TripAdvisor, they're the world's well known, most trusted company for accommodation, real estate reviews, rentals, hotels, travel, vacation rentals, restaurants, attractions etc. We've been renting with them for the past 8 years, we have an excellent reputation, received Certificates of Excellence Awards, lots and lots of positive reviews from many satisfied tenants.
It's quite a low price, because this apt is an online only special offer: a 45% discount that's available only for renting it online.
The rental agreement, keys, access cards, etc are at Tripadvisor, so you can quickly and easily rent it online.

I'm looking for serious reliable tenants so before I can link you to our TripAdvisor page to rent it, i need to see if you're financially stable, can you please email us something that show's you're in a good, stable financial situation. You can email anything you want: a pay stub, statement, screenshot, etc... It can be anything you want that shows you are financially stable.

Warm regards

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
