This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

Second Mail:

Hello xxxxxxx,
How are you? It is really nice to meet you!! From your little introduction, we sound so much alike and I hope we can get along with each other!!! Okey. You are sharing the flat with only me, I am a classic person that everyone will loves. I am the best friend that anyone could ever have & never wants to lose. I would never cause harm to anyone & they would never not understand my feelings. Life is a journey, it's funny & calm for the most part. I stay away from traitors & jealous people, so I can be stress free. I'm an outgoing person who doesn't like to play games. You either like me... Trust me, I'm very likable. I will be a good friend if you let me. I'm real down to earth and very easy to get along with. I'm polite, friendly and very respectful... I am looking for a calm, sympathetic, cheerful and open flatmate in mutual consideration and tolerance. Mutual respect and respect should be self-evident, and in case of any questions or problems always the common conversation should be sought.

I would like to get to know you and be friends with you rather than just two people living together who don't talk much but of course if you want your space I will respect that too.The monthly rent usually include all costs for utilities. You can tell me more about you, your hobbies, do you smoke nor drink alcohol? and when do you want to move in and how long do you want to stay? If you have any questions, ask me.

I wait for your answer so we can proceed.

Regards,

Veronica

Third Mail:

Hello xxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing back, you're right on track with the way we will proceed on this, i don't smoke and i drink red wine occasionally, i de-activated my facebook profile because of my ex boyfriend and am new to this, this is my first time am communicating with someone on the internet and am doing this because of the apartment ad, my hobbies are reading, music, dancing, cooking, swimming, sport, cinema, movie and playing tennis with my friend, i like everything you said about you and i think you will be a good tenant in the apartment... the picture of the bedroom i sent to you is the room am renting out and it's furnished, it has bed, duvet, wardrobe, chair, desk towel, pillow....but it's not only trusting in my self reference nor you. I can as well send you a copy of my identity so that you can feel more positive towards this as i will want you to understand that there are so many potential tenants that wants to rent and the only way I will be able to reserve the place for you right now is if i have a concrete arrangement with you.

It is going to be negligence on my part if I have nothing concrete with you in terms of arrangement and then leaving the place open because most times that I have tried to do that for people willing to rent, they either fail to meet up with appointment and meetings thereby sending me back to the first phase of having to send out adverts again so I hope you understand that angle that i'm coming from.

If you send me your information now (full name, address, copy of identity), then I will send you the rental contract for living in the apartment so that you can read through it's terms and if it all sounds well for you then we'll pick things from there.

Do let me know what you think about this so that we can possibly move things on.

Regards,

Veronica

In addition, I could also upload the rental agreement sent to me and their ID card copies, if possible !?

However, I have already sent her a copy of my ID with the current address .... Do I have to take care of anything or protect myself?

Best regards and many thanks !
