Name on Facebook Steven Day
He posted an Apt ad & I clicked the default message "is this still available?"
this was his reply "Hi! This is a 1 bedroom with 1 bath apt in Franklin Ave, Brooklyn, NY. The rent for the entire apartment is 1100. This is not shared. I've made this ad for my aunnt, for more info please enmail her at: [email protected]"
I emailed the "woman" & exchanged 3 or 4 emails with her disclosing personal info that was never asked Red flag 1
The only personal info I sent was a pic of my ID, Name, email, & phone #
the website link they sent me to book the airbnb looked a lot like airbnb website but the HUGE RED FLAG is when they asked for payment outside of Airbnb, that was off to me and they also had a chat window which the real site does not have. First through Zelle which they gave me a name Latosha as the booking agent, when I told them i do not have Zelle they suggested through Facebook messenger pay and told me to add Ryleigh Froehlich... Yea that's when I realized it was a scam because there were too many random names involved, then I went to the official airbnb website, went to help, then Trust & Safety and read under Scam Prevention. It says "Always pay and communicate directly through the Airbnb website or app. As long as you stay on Airbnb throughout the entire process—from communication, to booking, to payment—you’re protected by our multi-layer defense strategy." Anyways I don't want any desperate person looking for a deal & who has never booked with Airbnb getting sucked into this trap it is Fucked up.
