Room for Rent Scammer - Kelly Benson

Welcome to ScamWarners ihatecrime and it is great that the bank recognized that the checks were fraudulent. I hope you have stopped communicating with the scammer. Nothing good will come from staying in contact with him. Certainly don't deposit or cash any other checks you get from them AND do not send them any money by Western Union or any other transfer service.

i almost got scammed by her too. i was selling my parrot on craigslist and the first email i got was from this Kelly Benson asking if i still have it and if its in good "condition". so i replyed and i got the same answer as all of you guys. she says she wants to ship it and that she is going to pay me 1500 via pay pal. THATS when it got fishy. first off if your going to buy a parrot SEE it first. never would i ever buy a pet and have it shipped to me. holy dumb. so i googled her name and found this site. thanks for the help!
i sent her an email whem she asked if her offer was accepted saying "no, because you are a fake and a scammer and its discusting" she then replied "i am an honorable woman and i do not appreciate your tone of text"
hahah wow.

Welcome to ScamWarners kellyjay and congratulations on spotting the scam. Yes, scammers will offer to buy anything as long as you say the condition is good. They have no intention of taking possession of the item, so the condition doesn't matter. You caught that and it makes our day!

I have received this and several other Room Rental scams. I now go right to Google and search the email address for a scam hit. I know now what to look for, but for those who don't check any that want to send money, sight unseen.

Welcome to ScamWarners CaliChic and Honeywinters . Scammers are typically lazy and do not alter their scripts. Scammers also sell or share scripts and that is a great thing because they can be searched. Checking out anyone you are doing business with through the internet is a very good idea.

Welcome to ScamWarners secretidentity and Remobeater and Manoosh . This variety of names with almost the same script shows that scammers use different email addresses AND the same scam script is used by different scammers.

Being able to check the IP can often tell if it is the same scammer or different scammers using the same script. Regardless, it is good to have the additional email addresses available for search engines.

A few weeks ago I was selling my guitar on Craigslist, and so the person that emailed me was Kelly Benson. They said that they were going to send me 3350 dollars covering shipping and to send it to her shipping agent through Western Union. Anyways I ended up being stupid and sending the requested amount of 750$ to the fake shipper. Any knowlege of how I can report this and get my money back?

Welcome to ScamWarners intheturtleworld. We don't support haters here because many of us have been scammed too.

The first thing you need to do is get in contact with your bank. The check you put into your account will come back as a forgery and the bank will pull the whole amount of the check from your account plus penalties. The may even involve the police, since you have passed a forged banking document. It is true you did it unknowingly and that is what you need to tell the officials at the bank.

Take copies of the emails you have received with you when you talk to the official at the bank. It is very important that you do this as soon as possible.

Sadly, there is no way to retrieve your money unless it has not been picked up by the scammer. You can also call Western Union immediately and tell them what happened. IF the funds have not been picked up by the scammer, they may be able to reverse the transaction.

I will look for the number, but do your own inquiry because time is of the essence!
