Hotel reservations / booking

the below is sequence which appeared dubious from the get go.
David Jordan uses 2 email adresses

the last email made it clear that this is in fact a spam - who has same happening to them and what to do further. Do we play on and do as if we want this buisiness ? what shall we do ?
please inform - I am new to this forum and have not found anything similar on your website as yet

Thanks for the bookings & confirmations. The total cost of the
accommodation is quite okay by me and i'm ready to pay the bills. Also
want you to help me Charge another $8,450 USD to a travel agent who
has issued my guests air flight ticket to your hotel. The $8,450 USD
that will be sent to the agent is for the ticket fare for my guests
which will be deduct from my Credit Card.

Also, i'm compensating you with the sum of $550 USD also +Tax
fee+Charges fee for the transfer fee and for your efforts. Please note
that i should have given the travel agency my credit card for him to
deduct the ticket funds but he told me that he doesn't have the
facilities to charge or debit credit card , so that's why i bring my
vote of confidence in you.

There are a number of variations of this credit card scam - often ordering goods and asking to use their own fake shipper, or as in this case booking accomodation and asking for funds to be sent elsewhere to pay for flights etc.

The cards used are stolen and the scammer is relying on the fact that this won't be discovered until the victim has sent the money on to the fake travel agent using a service such as Western Union.

The best thing to do is to stop responding to the scammer.
When the fraudulent charges are noticed by the cardholder, they will be reversed leaving the victim down the money they sent.

Dear Alan, thanks for your confirmation of my "feeling" - I have not responded any more and have not heard anything more as yet. As a hotel we offcourse get enquiries to which we need to respond courteously.
What happens next - hope my putting it on this website helps others. KDK
