Subject: RE: Interest in Apartment
To: Michelle Banks

Good morning Michelle, How
are you doing today, First of all i want to thank you for your
interest regarding our apartment. After going through your email my
Wife an I really appreciate your interest regarding renting our
apartment and
wanting to take great care of it as if it were yours I have discussed
with my Wife regarding renting the apartment to you and we have both
agreed to rent our apartment to you. The rent fee is $800 while the
security deposit fee is $500. I am as certain as can
be that you would really love it there. But first you would need to see
the apartment and conclude if you like it or not. I tried calling you
morning so we could have a phone conversation but you where not picking
up.
Therefore after going through your mail and your profile, we strongly
believe that you are a respectable and responsible person, I am sure
you would be able to take great care of the property if given to you as
if it belong to you and pay the rent at the
right time Because the mine reason why we are renting out the apartment
is because we are serving as missionary in Malaysia and would be away
for four (4) years.

Please once again, we are giving you this on trust and do not disappoint
us and we promise you that you will love the apartment and the peaceful
serene environment. The Documents and Keys to the apartment are with me
here and would be sent to you via FedEx
next day delivery service.I want to rent the apartment out for either
long or short period depending on you.I really don’t like how it is
vacant now since I have settled down here for long.I actually gave the
apartment to an agent last year but I don’t really
like how he exploit the tenant and also ripped me off.Now I have decided
to rent it out myself now.

Please i want you to note that,i am a kind and honest man and also i
spent a lot on my property that i want to give you for rent,so i will
solicit for your absolute maintenance of this house and want you to
treat it as your own,is that taken?it is not the money
the main problem but want you to keep it tidy all the time so that i
will be glad to see it neat when i come for a check up.I do that once in
a while.. refundable security deposit of $500 would be needed cos it
will cover the cost of the delivery am going to
send to you but i will refund you the security deposit if you left the
apartment undamaged .

Please once again, we are giving you this on trust and do not
disappoint us and we promise you that you will love the house and the
peaceful serene environment. The Documents and Keys to the apartment are
with me here and would be sent to you via FedEx. I
would also like to know if you are ready to make the deposit payment.Do
let me know the best time to call you so we could have a phone
conversation.

Do get back to me ASAP so i could fill you in as my new tenant.

Hope to hear from you asap.

God bless

Rev Gabriel Brown.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
