Love via instant messenger?

I met a woman through Adult Friend Finder. After a few emails we exchanged our names on Yahoo Messenger. After talking on there for a few days things really seemed to start clicking. She then confessed that she was an "escort" and that's what she was using AFF for, but, was embarrassed to tell me because she had developed strong feelings for me. She then explained to me that she got tricked into the job and that she moved here from Mexico and was told that the job was something completely different from what it turned out to be. She says that she makes her money by getting guys to sign up through various websites where they are given a registration key. When she gets the registration key she processes it and that's the only way she's allowed to leave to meet with the client. (Yes, she says she's being held at a place and isnt allowed to leave without proof of a key). First off, I would never pay for an escort, that's ridiculous, just want to let that be known. We've been talking for awhile and she didnt bring this up till recently because she wants to get out of the place that's holding her and she needs me to get a registration key for her so that she can leave to come be with me. I told her that I wasn't going to put my information on a bunch of websites that offer "free registration" because it just sounds real sketchy. She then said if that's what I was worried about to get a "prepaid visa" card to use on the websites. I need some insight here people...I didnt feel like I was ever being scammed and now I'm truly wondering what is going on. The logical part of me says: more than likely a scam. The other part of me thinks: what if there really is this girl who just immigrated to this country and is in a situation where she is being taken advantage of because she has no where to turn to and is being forced to do something she doesnt want to. I know I should just probably say forget it and block her emails and her screen name. Morally though, I wish there were some way I could try to report this to the authorities to have them investigate. Please...please, I really need some advice. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Can you provide us with some of the emails and details you have received and perhaps we can work it out

Some thoughts on what I have seen so far;

If this was a real girl in trouble and being used as a sex slave, she can email you so why cant she email somebody else, like the police

She goes on to mention about this key and needs you to pay for it so she can escape and be with you, even if it was real, this is not something you need to be involved with.

My advice, ignore all future emails

scam, though I have to give a point for one of the most creative background stories I have seen.

She is being held captive and forced to chat/email online, yet she is able to openly make escape plans by email? If she has that much freedom online, she can just as easily contact the authorities as put her life in the hands of some perfect stranger.

In reality, someone being held against her will by anybody with half a brain would not be allowed unmonitored internet access. They would be monitoring her emails and/or chat logs (btw I use "she" but it's actually equally likely to be a male).

I am sure, however, that she is paid for each referral she successfully processes, and this is a pretty creative way to pick up some extra referrals.

Thanks for the responses. Anyone else have any insight on this. In general I agree with what has been said. I must give this person points for creativity and really working hard to get me to commit. The Visa Debit card. You sign up for it, they will ask your for the numbers. Once they have the numbers there will be a huge transaction that will probably go to some ad companies and these transactions will be pending. Even if you call Visa and cancel the pending transactions and order a refund to be sent in the mail, you will fail. They want you to be happy and content that you got your money back, but really they'll just call visa a little bit later and keep the transactions. They won't completely use your card so you get some refund in the mail. You expect a large refund but get a small one.
