Hi All,
This is my first post and I'm awful glad I found this site.
I've been searching online for some avionics (aircraft radios, GPS, etc.). I've been scammed at least once so far, but thankfully never gave them any money.
Avionics are not cheap! Even used and several years old. Prices for the Garmin GPS + Communication radios I've been looking for, though not even made for the last few years, run from $5K to $10K. I suppose it's a fertile field for scammers.
During a recent Google search I found a "Company"? in Jakarta, Indonesia, that supposedly sells surveying equipment as their main purpose, but had a pair of the radios I've been looking for also for sale. The price was quite good--a few thousand less than would be expected to pay in the U.S. Of course, the demand in that part of the world is much lower also.
I've had a few emails back and forth getting some additional information. I asked for pictures showing the Garmin labels with model numbers, serial numbers, etc. They sent good close ups of the labels right away, so I think they must really be in possession of the radios. They said they would ship them by DHL, insured and delivery would be in about 10 days. (Included in price.)
Now they want me to do a bank transfer to them ($8,000) and have said they will ship as soon as received. I'm a bit apprehensive.
This is their web address: http://suearihpringgan.com/
Please, what are your thoughts, advice, etc.?
Thanks very much.
