Subject: welcome to my family

Thank you for your interest
We are looking for an au pair who wants to be part of our family as a
grown up responsible member and use their own initiative. Someone with
a patient and calm attitude towards children, but still not afraid to
say no when it's warranted. You should be well organized and use your
initiative around the house as well. We expect you to activate our
children and take them outdoors and to activities for playing and
discoveries. We also want to teach them proper English. Intellectual
and sociable is a definitive plus. You should furthermore be curious
about the ways and life style, our fabulous nature and see the beauty
in a Big city. We are a well-educated couple (scientists) working at
the state hospital Chicago, leading relatively busy international
lives and speaking almost flawless English with a mid-Italian accent.
Our family is composed of Daniel (dad), Silva (mother), Alessandro (9
years old), Sofia (7 years) live in a big City with a lovely house and
garden just 2 km from the ST Paul Catholic, which we absolutely stay
in 108 north Broadway ave,Chicago...As a family we value each other
and our closest friends very much – trust and relations are important
to us. We also like to keep fit and take care of our children and
ourselves.
In our view on family values, we are relatively conservative, but as
persons we are liberal and firmly believe in individual choices.
However, out of practical reasons we would prefer that you have no
food restrictions (e.g. vegetarian).
In weekends we like to work on different projects in the garden or in
the house. We might also go to malls and do some shopping and we like
to have dinners and movie nights with friends. If the weather is good
we enjoy a trip to the ocean and have a picnic.,,

Duties we need in our family

Someone to help us out with our kids during approx. 4-5 days a week,
and occasionally also during the odd evening or Saturday or Sunday
when the two of us go to park, friends or catch a movie at the local
cinema. Our work hours are dynamic in that way that we don’t have 9-5
office hours, but rather work project- and task oriented. That implies
both flexibility, as well as a high degree of responsibilities, which
in turn makes each week slightly unique, even if we try to plan it as
much as we ever can. That said, you would need to be able to accustom
yourself to a certain degree to that kind of schedule and sometimes be
able to change schedule with rather short notice.

Little Sofia is a curious wonderful girl, who is full of intellectual
curiosity and creativity and loves to see and discover new things all
the time. Her senior brother, Alessandro, has the same curiosity, but
is more physically oriented and loves the outdoors. To keep
challenging them mentally is important, talking to them, playing with
them, showing them new things, both indoors and outdoors. At the same
time are both physically quite calm and easy to handle, already now
quite good to listen to and understand what we as adults tell them,
and very sociable with almost all people. The girl, being young, more
so of course, but the senior fellow understands quite a lot too. ☺
During the hours you take care of our kids we also of course expect
you to take them to school bus in the morning and picked them up after
school, cook for them, play with them, take them on walks outdoors,
etc. – but also keep the house in good order. If the toys or kitchen
ware comes out (they always do ;) they also get cleaned up and goes
back in - and don't be afraid to ask the kids to clean up after
themselves!

We are also hoping that you want to become a trusted member of our
extended family and find our Big city as lovely as we do. You will
furthermore have your own room (with Internet access), dressing room
and bathroom (with shower) and full access to all parts of our house
and garden.

However, even if we are looking forward to learn you a good English
and help you with a teacher to understand more and the traditions and
culture, a very good English proficiency is necessary both for our
initial communication, and when you spend time with Sofia and
Alessandro since we are aiming to make them bi-lingual in
good-English. Sofia is planning to join the local international
pre-school in approx a half years times and need to be fluent in
English. Hence we want you to communicate with both kids in English
only. We also want you especially to teach Alessandro, being the
oldest,to read frequently .

As a final note we would like to point out that since the United state
migration board is pain taking slow in handling visa applications (we
are sorry to admit this, but it is true), we have learned by
experience that you should either have J-1 Visa in which case you need
to work for our family . We are sorry for this limitation but there is
little we can do. If you don't have a visa there are no problems at
all though.i can help you in contacting a US Embassy agent in charge
of Visa to help you..
