Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
#280925 by askingforhelp Mon Jan 11, 2016 1:08 am
Is this email address is legit or another scam? the website is http://www.greataupairusa.com
The one who called me said that there will no fees to be collected only the Au Pair program that is worth 700USD only. And I should be paying that amount after I got an Host Family match and after my interview for getting J1 Visa in US Embassy here in the Philippines. then if everything is okay and arrange and ready to go that is the time I should paying that 700 USD and it includes all like flight ticket and others. It sounds okay than other agency I talked with. Is really a legit or not?

Thank You for your help.

To be an Au Pair in the US you MUST have a face to face interview in your country.

Do not pay money to be an Au Pair.

Please read the link viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3019
and educate yourself.

Scammers will often pretend to be real Au Pair agencies.

If they ask for money for any reason it is a scam.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. And Yes he will conduct a face to face interview to see how can I answer his question and after that he will sent an email and they will activate my account in the great au pair website and help me to find a host family. After I choose a host family, the host family will interview me via skype then after that they will ask me if that is final and help me to pass for the interview of US Embassy here in my country. then after I receive my J1 Visa and ready to go that will be the time that I should pay the 700USD. and that is a bit lower than the agency because I was direct in them. and it sounds good also than other agency that asking me for money eventhough they haven't do anything at the first place.

without getting too technical, you posted a web address, not an email address.

please post the entire email you received, including the complete (full) headers (removing your personal information first). It is impossible to tell if you are dealing with a scammer impersonating a real agency, or a real agency itself. If you did not receive an email, trust it as far as you can throw it, unless they gave you a return # to dial that = one listed on this page : http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/ho ... =Au%20Pair

something seems real wrong with a phone call coming to you. what did the caller ID read as the incoming #?

tbh, $700 for a flight to the US from the Philippines is so underpriced it isn't funny. I make regular trips to the Phils from LA and even with a 3 or 4 week advanced purchase tickets are still $1200-$1800 depending on the day(s) you fly. That much of what you describe smells like week old fish that hasn't been refrigerated.

skype is NOT a face 2 face interview.

Hi,

I send an application online in this website http://www.greataupairusa.com and the one who contact me is the one who assigned here in the philippines. and he will the one who conduct an interview face to face. to see me personally and ask me a question.

And for the skype interview it will be for my future host family. and I will send the money in that website aswell. if everything are already arranged. then in 700 USD it is the payment for the AU Pair Program. he said. but he will not collect it until I don't have Host family and A J1 Visa. I am the one who will pay for my J1 Visa here in the philippines. he will just assist me for answering the question at US embassy here in philippines.

Face to face means in person, not on skype or any other video conference system. Actually physically meeting the representative of the company. Has that happened? That is the first stage before being given any family details or discussing arrangements for visas.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

I would make sure all of what you are telling us is presented to you in a written contract before anything.
salesman ( aka scammers talk so well on the phone).

read the written contract to verify it says what the "agent" of theirs is saying is 100% factual. Nothing more, nothing less. and ask about anything you do not understand....

That written contract should have the agency name, address, phone #, and the agent working for the agency in the Philippines information as well.

if all of that is presented in a professional manner, and executed the way you claim it is supposed to happen, then good luck with the visa.
