Scams offering fake Au Pair positions

Hey. I'm looking for some help concluding if my friend has been scammed or if it is the real thing. She found a family trough a thaiperson said to be working with aupairs in Usa on a facebookpage about thai's wanting to aupair. The person on the facebookpage found a family that contacted my friend after 1-2 months saying that they where interested and that she should contact them to get working on the proccesing.

They required a 500 usd moneytransfer trough western union(the first thing tbat catched my eye) and copies of her passport which she later transferred to them, the day after she was got a mail with confirmation the day after and that her passport has been forwarded to consulate.

Today she was contacted once again and asked to transfer more money - 160+100 USD for visa fee's, this time she was asked to transfer the money to a actual Bank account

Jefferson Darwin is the name that contacted her and the family Andrea Clay.

I asked her to send screenshots of their email contact but i seem to be unable to upload them here.

Regards

It is a scam. To be an Au Pair in the US the Au Pair will have a face to face interview in person.

The only way to get a visa is to visit the US Embassy in your country.

Please read about Au Pairs >> https://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewt ... =42&t=3019
United States of America

In the USA, all au pairs must go through one of a number of designated sponsor organisations - host families do not directly deal with the arrangement of the au pair's visa/travel etc.

This is the official US Department of State webpage on Au Pair J-1 Visas http://j1visa.state.gov/programs/au-pair.

This page lists the authorised sponsors for the Au Pair program http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/how-to-apply/sponsor-search/?program=Au%20Pair.
  • If someone claims to be an au pair sponsor and they are not on this list then they are lying.
  • If they appear on the list, but quote a website that is different to the one on this page - or they use an email address that is not linked to the website listed on this page then they are lying.

Please ask to have her to forward you the emails. Do not ask for a screen shot then post the emails minus her personal information.
