Hi there,
I am new here. I am from Egypt
Please I am looking to be an au pair and someone found me on au pair website. First he added me to his favourite list then I found his email on his profile although it is forbidden by the website. Next day, the profile was deleted. I think the website deleted it because he wrote his email on his profile. I wrote to his email then He told me he is from UK and work with the USA army in Syria.
He told me his wife went to work two weeks ago and he want to make surprise to her.
He decided to choose au pair to work for his family and told me he will give me salary and room and he will pay me all traveling costs including flight tickets and told me I will not pay anything. I accepted then he asked me 16 questions and he accepted me too. Then he sent me this message:-
Hello,

Thank you so much for accepting my family, i will make sure that what
you require will be in your room, I have contacted the UK
Visa/Immigration office for the employment/processing of your visa,
they explained and gave me the requirements for your working papers,
they also informed me that the employment visa will be issued based on
domestic worker, and that your visa/work permit papers will be
processed from inside the United Kingdom then it will be sent to the
British consulate in your home country where you can pick it up. Then,
I was redirected to a home office representative because they can not
attend directly except through a representative
which i was redirected to
and that will process your papers, she gave me the requirements which
they will need for the processing of your work papers and the
requirements are as follows.

1. Invitation/Contract letter for employment: They told me that a
letter of invitation/contract letter of employment will be prepared by
her chambers which will bear the terms and condition of employment,
and this is meant for the both parties to reach an agreement and sign.
2: Valid Passport
3: Proof of financial demonstration: This is to prove that you are
financially capable to take care of yourself before your first salary,
and you need to show this fund to make sure that you have sufficient
fund that can sustain you before your first salary

They informed me that you are to provide 2 and 3 while they will
prepare the contract letter of agreement for both the employee and
employer to sign and submit, which is you and I, and with these three
requirements they will procure your visa papers within 2-3weeks, they
said that i will be the one to take care of all the traveling cost
including the flight ticket, so you do not need to pay anything

I have informed them to carry on with the processing of the visa, and
will make the payment for the processing fees ASAP in other to
proceed, i have been given the contact email address for you to write
and declare your interest that you are the aupair applicant that will
work for my family.
Make sure you keep me posted when you write them, can't wait to have
you in my family.

And he gave me the name and email of the representative to write to her
I asked him about how much money should I show on the proof of the financial demonstration. He told me he does not know but he just knows it is not a payment
Then I messaged him to ask him to give me time to ask here about the process and I asked him also for his facebook and whatsapp. He told me I do not need to ask about the process in my country and he do not use facebook because USA prevent that for solidiers and he does not know about whatsapp. I asked facebook or whatsapp of his wife. He told me he want to make it a surprise for her and asked me to tell him if I do not want to work for his family.
I do not know will they ask me to send copy of my passport to them by email?
Or how much is the fund should I show? And what is it?
I am really confused and do not know what should I do?
Please help. Is that a scam?

It's a definite scam - the UK has very strict rules on au pair visas and only a small number of nationalities are eligible and Egyptians are not one of those, so any one who offers you a job in the UK should be considered a scammer.

The best thing to do is block them and not respond. Please also post the email address that he is using and the one he gave you for the representative as other au pairs may be searching for them.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

This is the lead up to the request for money
Proof of financial demonstration: This is to prove that you are
financially capable to take care of yourself before your first salary,
and you need to show this fund to make sure that you have sufficient
fund that can sustain you before your first salary

The "representative" would have asked you send money in your own name by Western Union or Moneygram as proof of the funds. Even though the transfer is in your own name, the scammer would get sufficient information from you to be able to collect the funds.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
