Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
#47422 by David Jansen Sat Feb 26, 2011 4:44 pm
This is an au pair scam. There is no real job, and the scammer will ask you to pay for non existent work permits, visa, or other travel documents. Note that this scammer is using an old trick. He asks the victim to let a family member or friend to send money via western union to the victim's name, but to the address where the 'family' is living. Then the victim has to send the scammer the payment details, and the scammer can collect the money, and walk away. Don't fall for this scam!

Subject: Re: Assessment of eligibility

Congratulations,

We want to use this medium to congratulate you because we have
accepted you as our Au pair and a member of the family, after talking
to my wife she thinks you are qualified and have the experience to
take care of the kids.
We also want you to know that we are willing to pay for you air ticket
and process all the documents that would be need for your stay in the
United Kingdom as you can see in the Eligibility form that we have a
very good representative whom can take care of all that without any
problem.
We will also want you to know that there has been many instances where
prospective Au-pairs after getting approvals, documents, signing Au
pair contracts with the aim of coming to work for their employers in
the United Kingdom went to work somewhere else or did not come to the
United Kingdom at all or came for some very illegal reasons here by
creating problems for the host family and wasting their time, keeping
them waiting for so long without an Au pair to look after their kids.
We have been a victim where we provided air fares and processed
documents and even sent money but at the long run we got nothing as
the Au-pair did not turn up for reason that we can not explain and so
because we want to be sure and have an assurance that you honest and
determined to work for our family as an Au pair.
All we want you to do is to ask any of your family members or friends
you can trust to send a deposit of 250 British pounds to your name via
western union using my address in United Kingdom and then scan and
send us a copy of the receipt given to you as this will be used for
confirmation and will enable us know if the transfer was really made
or not and when we have confirmed, we will be rest assured that you
have some money to pick up and that you will come to the United
Kingdom. This will assure us that we will not be spending money on a
fruitless exercise and that we will not be waiting for someone who
would not come like the other Au-pair did, we are also willing to pay
back the transfer fee used in process of the the transaction.
When we have processed your documents and paid your flight fare you
come over to United kingdom and get your money back like we said we
need this as it will be used as an assurance that you would be coming
to work for us after singing the Au pair contract and procuring your
Visa and Work permit.
We would also like to assure you that your job is secure and we would
be waiting at the airport to pick you up and welcome you as a member
of the family.

We would send you the Au-pair contract if are ready to abide by these terms.

Have a blessed day.

We are a very fun loving and happy family, we also like keeping fit,
We are very patient when it comes to taking care of our kids cause
kids need time to grow and would need some like a big sister to become
a member of the family and take care of our kids.
We need someone to help out at breakfast times getting the kids ready
etc. They get the school bus from across the road. You would typically
be free from 7.35am each morning until school pick up in the afternoon
around 3.15-3.45 and look after until the parents arrive home
(6.30/7), you would be required to pick up at 12.15pm on Fridays.

We need someone who knows how to play with children, respond to them
and engage at their level. Duties would involve supervising and
helping with homework, playing, taking to activities, preparing supper
for the kids and bath time help.

You need to be proactive, able to be firm, flexible and independent,
able to make friends with other Nannies/ Au pairs in the area or
otherwise keep yourself busy during the day. You need to be able to
cook or follow a recipe. If you live in you will also be expected to
eat with the Kids and encourage healthy eating habits

Daily light housework is all that is required as we have a full-time
cleaner already who comes frequently but I need you to help tidy up in
between times and keep the Children s rooms neat. You must be either
fluent in English or have it as a first language. Someone who is
active, likes to encourage painting/ arts and craft activities and
isn’t afraid of children jumping on them or hugging them would do
well.

The pay is £180/week, plus food and accommodation. This is based on
five full days; the other two days, you would be free! You would be
entitled to 4 weeks paid holiday per year pro rate, to be taken during
school holidays only. There is huge potential to earn extra money, by
doing extra babysitting or cleaning for other local friends and
families.
You will have your own private large bedroom, with TV/DVD and internet
access. The bathroom has a (bath and shower).

We’d like you to:
• Be caring, reliable, honest, hard-working, cheerful and easy
going, have good commonsense and a level of independence
• Have previous Au pair/childcare experience
• Speak English
• Have excellent and check able references
• Be a non-smoker
• Have basic cooking skills
• Be energetic and enjoy the outdoors
• Driving license would be useful but not essential

If you are interested in being a part of our family, please email, with
a copy of your Bio Data, A scanned copy of your International
passport, birth certificate, Passport photograph with white background
and your available start date, and a recent photograph (if possible)
so that we can check if you are eligible to apply for Visa and Work
Permit.

We look forward to meeting you!

Thank you.
