Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
#60889 by zel Thu Aug 04, 2011 10:44 am
I just want to ask if my employer is real or a part of scam.?
I applied in a job posting as caregiver/aupair in uk through internet. Then the employer is willing to have chat to any applicant, she has skype,ym,and gmail account. She also send the duties and responsibilities of a caregiver. She also stated that free Flight ticket for my arrival to their home in manchester. I was able to see her through webcam and she also show her child who i will be attending to when I got there. She refer me to a agency email:[email protected] for processing of my documents. I research first the agency and I found the website of an agency she said. I message the agency and told me that I need to pay for the processing fee which cost 1000 pounds. I contact my employer and i told her about the fee and she said that she will shoulder the 60% of the fee while the 40% will be shoulder by me. The agency told me that my host family contacted them and told about the arrangement. The agency then told me to send the 40% payment through western union named to a specific person and address in UK. The agency then message me through mail confirming the payment and they said that processing of my document already started and it will take 7 working days. After 3 days of payment, the agency message me regarding the NATIONAL DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENTS PASS or NDLEA that any Applicant From any Asian Countries seeking for Visa and Work Permits Papers to work and live in United Kingdom legally must have that paper. The agency told me that the document cost the sum of 600euro also 50euro For the authenticating of the Paper In the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Office in London. I contact my employer through ym and I told her about the paper and she said that the agency also send them a message regarding the needed NDLEA. I ask her if she can shoulder that payment and deduct to my salary but she refuse, she told me that she do not offer flight now,pay later. But she said that she is willing to shoulder 300euro. Now I feel doubt if she is a real employer or just a member of a scam. I did not yet comply for the payment and I told her that I will collect and prepare for that. She said that it is okay and she hope for soonest arrangement. After 3days the agency send me a message regarding the confirmation of my flight that they booked already through KLM. Need a prompt response for those really know the process so that it will end soon if it is a scam and I am very thankful if it is a real one.

Hello zel, and welcome to ScamWarners.

Yes, that is a scam. Both the employer and the agency are fake.

In reality, if you are not European or from a British Overseas Territory, you are not permitted to go to the UK to work as a caregiver, and you are only permitted to go to the UK as an au pair if you are a citizen of Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or Monaco.

You can read about this here:

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... thmobility

And this confirms that au pairs must apply under the Youth Mobility Scheme:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... 5/aupairs/

Please do not continue communication with this fake family or their fake agency. Any money sent to them, or transfered in any way at their instruction, will be stolen from you.

I'm glad that you asked about this.

Awaiting your prompt response.

Hello zel,

Scammers sometimes read the forums here, and I don't want any scammer reading about how this is recognisable as a scam - because this would teach them about their mistakes and help them learn to become better scammers. Therefore, I will PM you with some information to share with your mother.

The website is fake. It is a scammer's website. I will make sure that this is reported - so, hopefully, it can be closed down as a fraudulent site very soon.

NATIONAL DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENTS PASS or NDLEA that any Applicant From any Asian Countries seeking for Visa and Work Permits Papers to work and live in United Kingdom legally must have that paper

This is a TOTAL LIE. There is no organisation in the UK that could issue this and it does not exist anyway. Any visa request for work in the UK from the Phillipines cannot be granted because it is illegal to issue it. Copies of PASSPORT are not acceptible to apply to UK Border Agency -WHICH MUST BE HANDLED BY THEM IN YOUR COUNTRY. Don't give your passport to anyone except the Border Agency, via special delivery to the address shown on the website. You will not be asked to pay by Western Union or Moneygram. Any one on the Internet who asks for money using those 2 transfer media are scammers so just make life easy and never send anything to anyone on the Internet who you do not know and have never met in Person. Web cam pictures can easily be faked. You were actually dealing with an African in Nigeria who will lie and steal from you -as much as possible. You will pay and pay and get nowhere and lose all your money.

zel, I have now sent you some more information about this scam. I'm just going to add a little to this thread, so that other au pairs who are being targeted by this scammer can read this too:

The scammer's email addresses are:

[email protected]
[email protected]

As indicated above, this scammer uses the redirect telephone number: +447035968677 which can also be written as: +44(0)7035968677

The fake agency with the email address: [email protected] uses the redirect telephone number: +447045798541

Googling this number will show that it is also used by this scammer when pretending to be called Williams Armstrong. You can see a scam warning about Williams Armstrong here:

viewtopic.php?f=42&t=21377

Williams Armstrong also uses the telephone number: +447867575585

The scammer calling themself Lisa Dominic may claim that they are not looking for an au pair, but for a caregiver or nanny. Please note that a caregiver or nanny would require a domestic worker's visa, and this is only obtainable for a person who has already been working for the employer for at least one year in another country. You can confirm this here:

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... ticworkers

Please stop all contact with this scammer. As began steele points out, their only intention is to steal money from you.

I'm glad that you asked about this.

Good day dear.
I also think about my host family. Two days ago then asked me to send money by Moneygram for NDLEA pass which is 750 USD. Before they prepaired my documentation for visa and I paid them 1300 and then 895 and now 750. They told me that they have already shipped my documents. And gave me tracking code. I check from internet CargoEx web site. There is my name and address documents hold on Iraq by immigration and i need NDLEA pass to get all my documents. Before they didn't mentioned about it. when i ask them they say this is a kind of new implementation and they didnt knew it by themselves.
Are they are scamers or not? Should i pay for NDLEA pass?

What website were you given to go to for CargoEx?

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

It is a scam.

Stop all contact with everyone involved.

You are not allowed to be an Au Pair in the UK.

Please read this link >>> viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3019

United Kingdom

Individuals wanting to be au pairs in the UK who are nationals of countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland have to apply for the Tier 5 (Youth mobility scheme). The Tier 5 scheme is very limited and only nationals of certain countries are eligible, as detailed here https://www.gov.uk/tier-5-youth-mobility . If you are not a national of one of the countries listed then you are not eligible to be an au pair in the UK - there are no exceptions to this rule.

Individuals who are nationals of an EEA country (except Croatians at the time of writing - check the Home Office website for the current limitations) or Switzerland are entitled to freedom of movement throughout the EEA area and do not require visas to work in the UK and do not require proof of funds

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.
