I had 2 people trying to scam me. The first person was known as Louise Collins ([email protected]) who said 'she' was from Australia but was in Maylaysia on business and urgently needed a car. The second person was known as Paul ([email protected] and paulcris13hotmail.com) who said 'he' was from the UK. Both parties of people sent me a text message saying

Hello, just viewed your car on Gumtreem is it still for sale? Awaiting for your response (the their email)
.
Then they both go on replying that they will purchase the car and that I have to give them my paypal details. Then they sent a reply back saying
Thanks for the prompt response You have received a PayPal Payment of $****.00 AUD from (both parties)

As mentioned in the receipt of Payment and as per New PayPal Payment policy, we have fully debited the total amount (above) from the buyer's account which includes the buyer's shipper's pick up fees.

In order to complete this transaction and get the funds approved in your account. We advice you go to nearest Western Union Office, and send the $2,000.00 (you may recall the last email said $2,000) AUD to the Agent and send us a Scanned Copy/Photograph of your Western Union Transaction Receipt (in .JPG Format).

NOTE: This is important as a security measure to ensure safety of this transaction.

Please, find below the name and address of the Transport Agent where the Funds would be sent via Western Union Money Transfer.

Address Status:Confirmed

Your Account will be credited accordingly upon the receipt of details requested. It should either be sent in JPG format or send type details as:
Sender's Name; Receiver's Name; MTCN; Amount Sent;

You may Click Here or reply to this message directly using the reply button in your email to submit the required information or to contact the PayPal Customer Verification Department and include either transaction ID or reference number (PP307) quick recognition of this transaction at [email protected].

Sincerely,
PayPal

I thought both emails the same was very weird and instantly thought SCAM

They both then went on saying that if I didn't proceed with the payment that Paypal will take legal action against me.

This was not true!

Hi there, ydoi85, and welcome to SW!

I'm very glad to see that you saw through this scam before they got anywhere with you, and even more glad that you posted their emails up here for the world to Google. Out of all the fake Paypal emails I've seen, this one has to have had the least amount of effort put into it :D

Got a warning from [email protected]? That's me!
Remember, legitimate businesses CANNOT accept payment through Western Union or Moneygram! Scammers use these services because once they receive money it is virtually untraceable!
