I listed an ATV for sale on Craigs List yesterday and received an inquiry about whether or not the ATV was still for sale. I replied with yes, and said I can meet for him to take a look. Below is the response...

Thanks for your response,I am sorry I am not available to view due to the nature of my job, I am in the United States Army and serve as a CBRN Specialist (74D).. I want to buy this for future use. I am currently deployed. I'm satisfied with the price & condition,I'll have a Certified Check issued out to you from my bank, then I will arrange for a pick up after check cleared at your bank...Kindly send me your full name and address so that i can mail the check out to you quickly.God Bless you

It's a little strange, IMO, this guy doesn't care to see the ATV before making the purchase (aside from the photos I provided). That being said, how could I possibly be scammed if he sends a certified check and I wait for it to clear the bank?

Hello WilliamH4 ,
This is a scam and the check will either be fake or stolen. The check will be for more than agree upon amount and he will want you to cash the check and send the extra to his shipping company.
The best thing to do is to ignore this criminal and do not respond in any manner.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

Thanks, Mike. I certainly wouldn't be sending any overpayment to anyone for the very reason you suggested. Even if he sent me the exact amount, this just doesn't pass the smell test.
