I had the same experience as you. I placed an order of ipad2 for around 586usd. I made my payment thro’ online banking. After payment, they sent me a “false” EMS code and informed me that my item is on shipment. Two days later, an email was sent to me informing that my item was hold back by the Chinese custom and I had to pay the extra custom fee which cost another 330 usd. What a big scam and stupid idea! Do not buy anything online like this anymore…….

Yes they are doing the same tactics that once you ordered from them they will say that it was on hold by china custom so you need to pay more… now they had changed there website name into
http://www.xinshops.com because I posted many scam complaint in the net..

Ordered a product from tohebuy.com and having paid for it I was given a tracking number which was false. When I contacted them I was told china customs was holding my goods and was asked to pay more money to get it released. I have e mailed them about my order and I am still waiting on a reply.

ME too!… I was scammed by these guys. I ordered a portable hard drive and after I sent my payment, I waited and no product was sent. I asked for a UPS tracking number and was told that my package was lost and they would resend it. after waiting again, I was told that they no longer carried portable hard drives. They offered to step me up to a more expensive product, but I declined and asked for a refund. Of course, this has not happened after numerous attempts at communicating with the company. Tohebuy.com is a total scam!.. do not use them.

Unfortunately, it looks like I’ve been scammed, too. Purported to be the Apple factory in China with prices at less than 50% of U.S. retail, I ordered a 27? I-Mac desktop for a total of $905. They sent me a bogus UPS number and said my computer was “selected” by the customs office and I would be required to pay an additional $510 to get it out of customs and shipped.
I asked for immediate shipment or a refund, neither of which seems to be forthcoming. Although I have informed the Ministry of Foreign Trade in China, the U.S. Embassy and a friend who speaks Mandarin and will intercede for me, I don’t expect any positive results.
They keep answering my e-mails @ their
[email protected] address but only to ask for more money.
My next step will be to contact my U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer to see if I can get something done abut this though I don’t ever expect to see my $$$$ again.
