Dealer Name: Global Auto Center
Physical Address Used: 1805 South Haskell Avenue, Dallas, TX 75223
Phone Numbers Used: (214) 329-9688 (866) 289-4092
Websites/Listing Services Used: glbauto.net, carsforsale.com, vehix.com, and autoshopper.com (Dealer ID 10706)

This is a another fake dealer by the scam group of scammers. This time they set up shop at an address that is not nearly the type of place one would expect to see the high-end cars they purportedly have for sale. They cannot be verified as a legitimate dealer by the State of Texas by calling them at (512) 465-3000. If you look at the photos for their listings you'll find the license plates blacked/whited along with photos from far too many venues and locations to be from a legitimate dealer. In fact, some were taken at Porsche, Land Rover, and Lexus dealers to name a few. They are simply lifting photos off the internet to lure unsuspecting and trusting buyers into wiring them money so they can take off with it.

Vehicles this fake dealer offers for sale but does not have include:

They are also set up at 840 Mendocino Street Altadena, CA 91001. website is http://www.global-auto-center.com Here is the response I got to a vehicle they have listed for sale.

Hello XXXXXXX,

We received your inquiry regarding the (XXXXXXXX) that we have listed for sale. The car is still available. It has a clear title.

We recently had a buyer from Canada for this car and we had it shipped to him, but meanwhile he changed his mind choosing another car (XXXXXXXX) from our inventory. So now the car (XXXXXXXXX) is located in Prince George, BC, Canada, sealed and ready to be shipped to the new owner.

We didn't ship the car back to us so we can save the shipping expenses until we find a serious buyer for it to have it shipped directly to him (shipping fees are included in the purchase price).

So if you are serious in purchasing this car from us please reply to this email with your decision and contact information as well and one of our Sales Department agents will call you to make the necessary arrangements.

Thank you for your interest in our vehicle and for visiting our website!

An additional website they have worked under is http://www.glbauto.net

Both http://www.global-auto-center.com and http://www.global-autocenter.com domains have been repossessed by godaddy.com. glbauto.net is still active.

Aliases that have been used by the scammers include:

Thomas Rush
Adam Rush
Thomas Kaplan

The phone number they are using (214-329-9688) is a Voice Over IP (VOIP) number with a Dallas exchange. It traces back to Level 3 communications.

Their MO is to form an LLC and open a bank account in the city where the LLC is supposedly based. The LLC is formed with a false address (here is an example: http://www.sunbiz.org/scripts/cordet.ex ... ling_type=). When they provide the wire transfer instructions to the potential victim they give a branch location in the city where they claim to be operating their business (which is NOT the same as the location where the LLC has been formed) to make things appear legitimate - for example, they may claim to be operating in Dallas, TX, the LLC is formed in New Port Richey Florida, and the bank account is in New Port Richey Florida. They will give the potential victim the account number for the New Port Richey account, but they will list a Dallas Texas branch as the location where the account is originated. They have used accounts with Regions Bank and Sun Trust bank. We are aware of accounts that were opened in New Port Richey, Florida and New Jersey.

Once the funds are wired by the victim, they are immediately wired to a different account at a different bank. The scammers then remain in contact with the victim for a few days to make things appear legitimate.

To clarify for visitors reading this thread, as Reddog's post might lead to some confusion: This is a fake dealer. They don't own, and have never owned, the cars they are claiming to sell.

If you are interested in the vehicles they advertise, you can try to find the real seller they stole the information from a few ways. You can search the internet for the VIN numbers and the photos used (use tineye and google image search), as well as description information, and it may need you to the original seller. It is possible that you will lead you to more fake sites, though, so you must be extremely careful about this approach.
