Hi sushichef and welcome!
It's a scam. Please drop him.
His email is a typical car scam. If you google
"my platoon replacing the troops scheduled to come home"
you will see it's all over the net in anti-scam sites.

Also, please remove your personal details including your email address from the post, so scammers won't target you.

DON'T tell the scammer that you found him in this site. Just cease all communications with him and move on.

Please do post the scammer's email address and the email he sent to you. He will target several other people with the exact same email, so having it posted will help them.

It's just your own name and your email address that should not be posted.
