THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THIS SCAM IS TO NOT PAY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU HAVE VIEWED AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE YOURSELF
(The scammer either photo-hacks the vehicle registration or uses photos that don't show the registration number to make it impossible to verify the identity of the car. If the seller hides the vehicle registration - avoid the advert. Only scammers need to hide the identity of a vehicle.)
CAN'T SEE THE VEHICLE REGISTRATION ? - DON'T BUY

(Of course any seller who photo hacks the vehicle registration could be attempting to sell a car as being newer than it really it is, though more often the scammer is just trying to hide that it's a car he doesn't own).

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle
