My very own 'is this a scam?'! (though I think I know the answer)

I just had a very pushy bloke cold call me offering a 12% return by investing in biofuel technology. He was very persuasive, and pitched like he was being paid by how many words he could say in a minute.

Basically, anyone who cold calls me with an 'investment opportunity' screams 'boiler room scam' at me, and really in this day and age, 12% is just 'over egging the pudding' as we say round here. When I said my wife might be interested in the info, as she teaches, he took this as if I had promised that my wife would invest. Eventually I hung up.

After typing the above, I did what you should always do at this point , Google.

Yep, it IS a boiler room scam. For the unitiated, you are high pressure sold worthless shares at an inflated price, by people who disappear with your cash. There you go, I answered my own question. :)

Wow! I need you and thank you for the information.

I am SO GLAD YOU BURST MY BUBBLE

So I can close this chapter with no more fretting, right? Thanks so much for your help.
