I wasnt really suspicious at this point at all, but read on.

Mr Brennan Atwood,

I regret to inform you that I have already been booked for this week.

However for future reference, I will answer your questions:

(1) How much does it cost for your 4 Hours DJ services.

I charge a scalable fee, however as a baseline I will state that it could be upwards of $500.00 for 4 hours of music.

(2)Do you have an availability on 25th of August?

As of now, August 25th is open for booking.

(3)What are your basic equipment that you usually use to perform?

I use vinyl turntables, a notebook computer, a multi-channel dj mixer, and sometimes cd turntables to mix my sets. I also use some of my own engineering hardware/software to add in to the mix. Depending on the requested music style, I may incorporate a microphone, for vocals, beatboxing, or announcements.

I must underline the fact that I am a specialised DJ, who performs mostly electronic dance music (house, trance, electro, drum and bass, etc) as well as some trip-hop, hip-hop, funk, soul and top- 40's. I am not an all-around DJ.

4)Do you charge for millage or travelling?

I generally do not charge an additional fee for transportation, however depending on your venue needs in terms of sound equipment, or on short notice there may be a fee to cover the costs of transporting additional equipment. This may include larger speakers, PA system, amplifiers, etc. I prefer the venue to have sound equipment as to minimize your liable costs on my equipment.

I appreciate your interest in my services, and perhaps in the future,

you will be in need of a specialised EDM DJ.

Sincerely,

Emmett

At this point I was like WTF, my services have never been advertised before, and I have never done any public functions. Plus how could one be
a social secretary, and have shit spelling? LOL. So while I was wondering this I decided to be professional and send a reply to him.

Hello Brennan,

Before I can commit to you, I need to know:

Do you or the venue have a sound system? If so, please specify number of speakers/amplifiers, etc.

What is the performance area/venue like? Do you have a DJ booth setup already?

How many people will be attending?

Would you like me to mix primarily house/electro beats?

I am trying to get an idea of which equipment I will need to bring/obtain, versus stuff you have. If all I need to bring is my performance gear, that makes things a lot easier, and cheaper.

As far as 'locking down' that day, I require a deposit of 50%, preferably cash but I will accept a same-day dated cheque. However, before we agree on the fee, I would like to work out the details/expectations.

Thank you for your continued interest, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Emmett

Welcome to Scamwarners Emmett :)

My guess is that the scam would be to send you a large fake check and ask you to return some money by Western Union. Without his email address and headers there's only limited research for previous scams that can be done, but there are no results for the social club or the address.

Well done for being wary

Like Benjamin said -- it's likely a check scam. The guy will send you a check, but a day later, he'll send you an email noting how his "secretary" accidentally made the check out for too much money (i.e. instead of $500, she made it out for $2500), and could you please send the excess amount back via Western Union, and keep an extra $100 for your troubles.

There's the rub: he seems so generous and reasonable you just want to help the poor guy out.

Yeah I looked all of it up as well, with no direct linkage. So I looked up Cheefo residence and it brought up that scam report link I provided in the original post.

I'd really like to bait this guy somehow.

We advise you not to bait if he has any of your personal details.

I would suggest that you keep his email address somewhere safe. Pop over to 419eater.com, learn all you can about baiting and then pick him up again and bait him in a few weeks time.

Yeppers, this is a scam --- about all else the terrible spelling, grammar, and typing in CAPS are dead giveaways.
