Hi Kari, yes, that will be a scam, it bears all the hallmarks of a typical fake check scam, Craiglist is a scamemrs paradise, to give you some idea, I placed a fake advert on Craiglist, just to get scamemrs to reply to me, I received 52 replies over a 48 hour period, all wanting to send me checks for something they thought I was selling.

The reason they want to pay you up front, is so that they can send a fake check to you, which you will cash, then the scammer will say there has been a problem, and they can't come after all, so they will ask you to send the money back to them via Western Union, a short time later, your bank will inform you that the check you deposited was fraudulent, you are now left to pay back the full value of that fake check to your bank, because you have sent the money to the scammer.

Please post the full headers from the email you received, that will let us know which country the scammer is emailing you from, if you don't know how to get the full headers, tell us which email client you are using, Yahoo, Hotmail etc, and we will tell you how to get them to post here.

You're welcome, Kari, feel free to post any time you think you may be being scammed, and I would advise you to avoid Craigslist if possible, as you will be contacted by scammer after scammer!

Please tell your family and friends about these type of scams, the more peoople who are forewarned about them, the less victims there will be.

Remember, if it seems to good to be true, then it is.
